De La Rue Takeover Rumours (DLAR)

I hope so too but I find it a bit curious that they have a fixed timeline to announce the takeover. They would be obliged to announce they are in talks with the usual caveats. A fixed timeline usually implies an internal strategic review. Maybe that then flushes out a bit.

Possibly but I wouldn’t see that as giving value to stakeholders ie shareholders. If anything selling the future ie authentication would be seen as giving away DLR best chance of future revenue streams which will have a negative impact on valuation of the company. I hope it’s a straight forward takeover or a merger. The brand is valuable. Fingers crossed they know what they are doing.

Hopefully an improving set of financials, as talked up by Clive Vacher re the market changing for the better, will spur the share price beyond £1.10. Takeover then a real possibility as business will be stabilising.

Surely that just depends on the takeover pricing? Looks to be a win/win business improving, outlook improving and a possible takeover target.

I don't want a takeover myself, market conditions are moving favourably, especially for bank note demand which appears to have been a pleasant surprise. Let's hold out for well over £2.

As I’ve said before i think the company is a sitter for a takeover approach before it has time to recover further ..if the offer reflects the strategic market position and that recovery potential it might well succeed with CRS and RG now holding over 25%..but it would still have to be a decent premium. Maybe what he is looking for?

It is the board and majority of shareholders who will decide if a takeover is pitched at an acceptable level. Being the largest shareholder gives CRS a seat at the table but they do not decide on an acceptable take out price. I agree though that on a timescale point of view if CRS was offered a level that reflected the strategic value well ahead of the markets fundamental valuation they would along with other frustrated institutions who ousted the last Chair grab it with both hands.

I’ve sold out over the past couple of weeks - it has been a beautiful ride from 40p. A takeover is possible but less likely now the shares have recovered IMO - not sure why any sensible outfit is going to be more interested at 85p than at 40p. Nor would I take Crystal Ambers guidance except with an extremely large pinch of salt. They originally overpaid for a highly indebted business with a pension issue and declining sales base, and since have been little more than a pain in the backside to any poor b@gger tasked with turning it around… ATB to those who continue to hold and best wishes for 2024.

Bit odd to believe that a takeover is more likely now than 6-12 months ago - the share price has doubled adding £70-80m to the price tag. That’s nearly the value of the debt itself, which is also rising… Nor is it clear why a buyer with deep pockets would have been concerned by the debt covenants in the first place. That’s one of the benefits of having deep pockets…. Fingers crossed we see further evidence of recovery, certainly did the job in June :)

Now that the pension situation is pretty well sorted and the balance sheet and debt position not so precarious the chances of a takeover must be far more likely ..I’m sure the business could recover pretty well over the next few years but if the right price was offered short term and maybe resulting in a competitive bid situation it would be difficult to refuse…currency is a sector where there needs to be some consolidation.Company has been tweeting some small polymer notes launched ..it all adds up and it appears polymer is maybe gaining some traction.
