like your story mate... when did you made first purchase?
when did you speak to him?

pop in to my local asda and bought RED LEG for present for my old man... I have noticed that asda had reduced one line for our rum, it used to be 2 lines , now only one.... hope this is temporary change

One reason I bought so heavily after the placing was that I had the opportunity to have a chat with Don before the AGM. I was there early and absolutely nobody else was around. The fact that he was honest enough to tell me how much needed to be done to turn the company around actually gave me confidence that maybe it could be done. He didn't give me any special information of course, but it seemed so refreshing from the usual unconvincing promises you get from the boss of a smaller company. He seemed serious and committed and his history at Diageo was good enough for me to start buying and average down my buying price. I had been heavily in loss and also very miffed at the dilution of the placing.

You never know your luck with small companies in the Summer - A few large random sales in thin trade can send prices down creating a buy opportunity. I would definitely buy more if we go under 2p again for no apparent reason. Having said that, we do seem to be on an upward trend now. I will be having some more of the Blackwoods Vintage over the weekend.

Haggis, I didn't receive any emails after the first two I mentioned, so I don't know what the cause was. There was no evidence that the labels had been pulled off, so it was probably a production issue. I agree with iceman - most shelf stackers won't care about and/or notice a missing label.

It's probably Pope going round taking labels off and tuning bottles round, he'll do anything to load up at lower prices.

ironmc, DIS is indeed a company that keeps things close to its chest, and there are no leaks here. We have a seasoned veteran of spirit sales running the company, he's been delivering high growth gains for years and it's not really reflected in the share price. He doesn't shout about future upside, he delivers it and then let's the market decide. There's still 5 months of this year to go. I wouldn't write off a USA distribution deal this year unless we haven't got one by the end of October, as Don, the BoD and the big shareholders still want USA distribution sorted.Did they find the reason for the labels missing? It sounds very suspicions that shelf stackers would put bottles on shelves with the front label missing, I would expect them to take the bottles back to the store room and advise the supplier? So did someone remove the labels in the shop? Someone that works for a competitor or wants to hurt the company?

Haggis, I’m not as optimistic as you that a US distribution deal will be done this year. If it’s “highly possible” as you say, then why was there no comment in the last results saying “we expect to conclude a deal in...”. Admittedly I’m fairly new to Distil, so I can’t judge yet whether they’re the type of company that keeps things close to their chest and under promises and over delivers. If I was a shareholder (I’m not – yet) I’d have liked a bit more guidance on this deal.

As I said, I’m new to Distil, so I was checking my local supermarkets a couple of weeks ago for Redleg and Blackwoods. First stop was a local Morrisons, where I was disappointed with the label on the RedLeg bottle, which was just lots of small writing. When I checked another supermarket I realised it was the back label, and in fact the Morrisons bottles were missing their front label! I checked again a week or so later and the bottles were still on the shelf, so I emailed the company to let them know. I sent the email at 17:45, got a reply the same day saying they would look into it, then another reply the next day asking for the store details. I was in the supermarket the day after that, so I had another look, and the bottles on the shelf had front and back labels. Quick work by the company, but a bit worrying that these bottles had got onto the shelves in the first place.

ironmc, my thoughts on the USA deal are that they would love to go with a bigger distributor at least for RedLeg and Blackwoods, and that Southern Glazer's would be the target, selling alongside Fevertree, a brand we are already connected to (see social media posts from both companies).Southern Glazer's are huge. Stocking them would require increasing production and stocking up here before shipping several container loads to them. So we may be building up to that.I also don't think any of the deal talks have fallen flat. We have hot products that the big USA distributors would love to trade, so talks continue until a deal is worked out that both sides are happy with. Don wants to get the right deal, even saying in April 2017 that he wants the income in 2018 FY not 2017, so he wasn't going to rush into the deal, he wants a good deal but he also has to get production ramped up and stock piled up for the deal, without the need to bring debt to the company.I think he's now under a lot of pressure to get the USA up and running, as it's been in the pipeline for over a year now, so I think it's still highly possible this year, before the Xmas demand kicks in.

Redleg revenue 1.1mln, Blackwoods 791k. Doubt there are many distributors who are eager to sign a deal in USA. Just focus energy and money to grow in UK/EU for now.

Haggis, I watched the Don Goulding video from end to end. What comes through strongly is the repeated emphasis that the value is in the brands. It's clear that he's looking to sell at some point, either one of the brands or the whole company, although he does say they're a long way off that point. He goes through some brands that have been sold off by other companies, but doesn't mention how long those brands were around for, or how big their market was when they were sold. Without that knowledge it's difficult to asses the value of any of the Distil brands.

What we probably can assume is that if they crack the US market with any of the brands, the value will eventually go up by many multiples. Has anyone got any thoughts on the US distribution deal they're working on? I've looked at their announcements, and the first mention I can find is the 7th June 2017 results:
"Our ambition for RedLeg in the US has increased following its success in other key markets. We are therefore reviewing our distribution arrangements to ensure we have the appropriate reach and in-market support prior to launching the brand in that territory. More news will follow once negotiations have concluded"

Then the 16th Jan 2018 update:
"In the US we revised our target distributor list to allow a combined approach and discussions are underway with a shortlist of suitable companies"

Then the 8th June 2018 results:
“We are in talks and negotiations with potential US distributors for our brands, except for Blavod where we already have a US distributor. We are seeking a long term, strategic partner for this market. As the US market represents an important long-term brand building opportunity, we have broadened our search to find the best distribution partner for our brands in terms of being able to provide market coverage and activation support. We will keep shareholders informed of further progress and developments.”

Reading between the lines, it sounds the discussions with the companies on the shortlist didn't work out, so they've gone back to the drawing board. That's well over a year that they've been working on this, and no sign that they're even close. In the 2018 results there's no mention of when a deal will be reached, which suggests to me that it may be some way off, and maybe not this year. I note that Fevertree recently announced a US distribution deal. Does anyone with Fevertree knowledge know how long it took them to arrange their US deal?

There are certain things I trade... I made a few quid on BPC and VAL last year but when stocks such as these rise it tends to be speculative unless there's some hard news of course but a lot of the time a retracement follows. I've never traded this haven't got the bottle to and long term...'The only way is up ' I've added 8 times to my holding since my initial buy 5 ish years ago.....each time I've paid more money and it's unlike me to average up,Last lot being 2.35p at the last Trading Statement.

I thought the Blackwoods Vintage 2017 Gin with Fevertree Mediterranean tonic was absolutely excellent. Tried it the other day with my brother who was also impressed. Lovely subtle quality to the taste with the herbs. Hope Distil have plenty of stock as it deserves to fly. I'm heavily invested in this company so am encouraged.

pim still a very tight market in the shares hence big rise on small volumes. As many of us have said GL if you wish to trade this. Better gains look to be for long term hold.

As you have said graph looks pretty encouraging.

Brokers short selling ( stock they haven't got ) usually means a drop in price to cover their short positions
However if the buyers keep piling in then the MM keep selling stock they have not got then it's massive move north
Either way up or down the the brokers will always cover ,balance their book
They make money up or down long or short

No news so where did all this excitement come from? Looks to me as if some lurkers are learning to trade this one. After touching bottom on the rising lower trend line on Friday all large buys today(where is the stock coming from?). The chart is pretty obvious atm for anyone wishing to scalp the short term buy/sell game.
