jubberjim; like you I have sliced a bit of my holding at this level, but only about 25%. But it is easier to do that if you bought all the way down and are sitting on a low average. I will keep my 75% for the time being.

Increased my holding in October @176. Have sold those today and will hold the bulk

I would assume Aviva anticipated this reaction as one of the more probable after the reaction to Ageas. To me that means that Aviva must have thought what to do after it and, since they have not walked away that should mean either they have a top price beyond 250 in mind before they walk away or they are prepared to go hostile, either at 250 or higher. It would make no sense that they would go in with an initial bid without planning the next step. It may depend on whether others are flushed out.

Have let some go at 223 Bird in the hand and all that especially after the drop in the share price after the last bid rebuffed..

More than happy to wait now

Not engaging and presumably like the last bid not putting it to the shareholders smacks entirely of self
interest by the directors.
Not that I'm at all surprised.
In this instance if no loved lost between Blanc and the CEO CFO they know they will be off their
gravy train pretty sharp , so the shareholders interests do not come into it.
Just hope for once the institutions that are always so quick to welcome buybacks will actually force
their hand for a change to the benefit of other shareholders.

Hmm, Peak on these was around £4. I bought in at £2 thinking that was well oversold. Waa hoping for a build back towards £3... which I think is possible. Why offer 2.50 if that is all it is worth. DLG may have been rigt to dismiss this out of hand. New management or not, it will be seen as a win if they sell the company for nearly double last weeks price.

Wow I really admire Supearich. A username like that means we should all sit up and take notice as the analysis is likely to be spot on.

That reminds me I must phone back the guy that needed my bank account details so he can transfer the bitcoin winnings he said were mine.

As someone said, grab DLG as its just starting to turn round. Take a page out of the VC book.

Ironic really that there could be any competition issues, seeing as we are owned online in the UK by Google, Meta, Ebay, Twitter, by their own oligopolies.

Thats ok though because anything American is great but we needed to take back control from the EU.

I agree wba1 that the people involved being ex Aviva has something to do with the approach.

I also think that if this fails to go through then next year something for sure will happen to take DLG out. I guess as long as the turnaround continues, the divi gets paid and the final price climbs too then waiting isn't so bad.

Would sooner take the win now though as those dark days in limbo are not great.

Good luck all 👍🏻

Interesting. I was not sure Aviva would be the next bidder as it may raise competition issues (at least I would expect a referral). As I have said before I think 250 is a fair price. The market profits will peak in the 2025 financial year and I see few indications as yet that DLG are doing the necessary to reduce their private motor exposure. I do wonder if the bid dynamics have at least a little to do with the Aviva background of all the key players. For Blanc this makes sense in that she is wholly focused on the UK and Canada, is not so reliant on retail GI that she takes a risk by growing her presence in that sector but will get a very powerful position in retail if this happens. I agree with others that the DLG reaction is wrong and may be driven more by personality and self interest than shareholder interest. I have heard that Blanc and Winslow are not best buddies. A sensible reaction would be decline but engage.
The real question is what next. I suspect Aviva will look at an improved offer, possibly 260 or thereabouts. But I also wonder if others will appear. I have doubts that Ageas will come back; Aviva have a better base to extract benefit from the acquisition. The 2 possibles for me are Allianz, who will be wondering what this means for their LV operation, and Sampo, who do have the Hastings base to extract benefit but may see it as too big a meal. Either way I am happy. Even if this falls through I cannot see DLG being independent by the end of 2025.

You can see at the opening, the discount to the offer on the table that the market doesn't trust the management to negotiate and achieve a result for the share holders

A nice spike at the open which sees me comfortably back into profit here!!

Didn't see that coming just 24hrs ago which is why it's always best to stay invested.

Good luck all 👍🏻

280p should do it, I think this time it has legs, and will go through with a final improved offer, just before the Christmas break, nice, that will help......
