DMF:

“However, as the most liquid stock in a sector dominated by a negative top-down view at present, Direct Line may find itself in an unfavourable position – despite defensive characteristics and attractive yield, investors either don’t have to own any of the motor insurers, or use DLG as an instrument to short the theme; therefore, we downgrade to equal weight.”

Equates to ... we will short DLG because the grass is green.

ESUR got thumped as well, currently -4.6% intra-day. Might be sector read-across from that. Maybe we'll learn more when the noon market recaps come out...

They've downgraded many insurance companies this morning, hence the drop. Nothing worth worrying about. I've also had a top up this morning.

Barclays downgrade. Target price £3.57, down from £4.20. Barclays must be looking to pick up some cheap stock.

Both DLG and ESUR recovering now and volume has fallen. Difficult to make a decision without knowing why

BKG I'm long out of, LRE I sold 85% off.... the rest will likely remain until I get something approaching a 1/2-way decent price on them...

Yeah I noticed you were posting/holding here GaryC, and I look forward to getting into the discussion in future.

ps. Oh and FWIW I'm a LTBH investor, building my retirement portfolio. So I take a long view, with no expectation of selling, perhaps/hopefully ever.

This is good news for dlg - first review must start after 90 days from royal assent and be completed by 140 days - could be a special divi

Lord Keen accepts Lord Sharkey's amendment. The #discountrate proposals will come into force on the day the #CivilLiabilityBill receives Royal Assent.
