what a fantastic set of results - no company in the ftse is better run - basic divi are now circa 21p

this is without the discount rate changing - expect it to be revised upwards this week

gsbmba99 - Indeed. From 2016 Final Results released on 7/3/17...

Preliminary Results year ended 31 December 2016 -

In future, the Board has decided that, in the normal course of events, it will consider whether or not it is appropriate to pay a special dividend only once a year, alongside the full year results. In doing this, the Group will harmonise its major capital management decisions with its planning process and its full-year earnings.

From memory, I believe they said last year that, going forward, they would only assess ability to pay a special once a year at the time of final results publication. So, an interim special is unlikely.

Last year ex 11/8 we had 4.9p Int and 10p Special. Would we be too optimistic to hope for similar on the 1st August?

chart and indicators looking extremely positive which bodes well for the lead up to results. Short term the services PMI tomorrow will give some decent clues on the UK economy, lets hope that we hold up until the end of the month

this is good news.

The changes to cut exaggerated and fraudulent whiplash claims were put on hold due to the election. Moreover the discount rate consultation ended before the election - expect the reinstatement of the changes to cut whiplash and changes to discount rate (eg raising it from -0.75 to 1-1.5% will save DLG 250m per annum) to be in Queen's speech - all great news for DLG enabling them to cut premiums and increases divi.

May's agenda will be outlined in the Queen's Speech, and will see the Prime Minister commit to working with "humility" after her party lost 13 seats at the General Election. The speech will include legislation to cut motor insurance premiums, create a holistic financial guidance body and protect renters.......Legislation to cut motor insurance?K C

nicksoj - Although I am not able to see a soft Brexit, I agree with you that the share price is likely going forward to 400.I have just over 9000 shares on this one since 5/6 months ago. I will certainly keep holding until the share price close to 390 or above.K C
