09/8/2002 08:43 | Well I remember seeing my first mouse which was a roller ball in an office full of luggables that seemed cool in the old Albert Docks before they were demolished. Not that old I know, but felt like I wanted to join in :)) Probably around 1985 when Dell meant a fast PC and Lotus 1-2-3 on a monochrome was the bomb, 5 1/4 floppies, ahh those were the days,, | jl202

08/8/2002 16:11 | Im only 36 and my first ever computer game involved landing a spacecraft by typing in speed and engine duration bursts. the machine would then print out your position change. then we moved up to a flash research machines - I meanwhile built a flash tangerine(name of machine) with a 6502 processor. My next desire was to save up for the tape and a/o convertor so I could record my programmes instead of losing them on power down. | tradesman
08/8/2002 14:02 | Until you've put the chads back into a punch card and gone over them with a pencil rather than punch a new card, you haven't lived! Unless of course, you have spent the afternoon splicing paper tape. Happy days! | skinny

06/8/2002 22:03 | Guys, I seem to remember asking on this subject a while ago and was impressed by the amount of useful info freely offered. However, if you're pressed for time and need something ready made & free (ie Freeware) try "Smart Rename" - downloadable from: Its an excellent utility that does all I need to rearrange filenames - no frills - its simplicity is its biggest virtue. Also there is an excellent photo-album (freeware) manager by "fototime" - same source. I copy all my digtal pix into a fototime folder on a separate drive thus backing up automatically (ok so long as PC doesnt get nicked/bombed/catch fire). Foto time is an excellent mamanger if like me you have lots of technical photos you need to categorise & find quickly / simply etc - works similar to Win Explorer except better. Very easy to addcaptions etc and found to be one of the best viewrs for loading time and ability to customise. Cheers, 0007 | 0007
06/8/2002 14:25 | Sorry pommy there was an error with the underscore when I copied it to this thread, the line over-ran. Have edited it now and it works - recopy it and try again. Make sure you have some test files in the destination directory first - duh! | jl202
