25/4/2002 22:49 | Paudud : Reg date for the special dividend is 26 April, so the Xd date should be 3 days before that - Tuesday of this week. That alone could account for 14p of the drop we've seen this week. geoff | gj2
25/4/2002 16:35 | wHEN IS THE EX DIV DATE FOR THE SPECIAL DIVIDEND | paudud
19/4/2002 00:28 | The shares had a good run up in front of the results. Looks like a bit of profit taking which is to be expected in the absence of any additional positive news. | keith55
18/4/2002 09:28 | Maybe a reaction to the increase in employers N.I. in the budget which will hit the smaller firms. Tempting to buy after today's fall as will still qualify for the interim + special dividends. | superdealer
18/4/2002 09:08 | Paudud, Probably just profit taking. Longer term investors won't be selling on this news. | flackwell
18/4/2002 08:22 | If there is anybody out there why has the price gone down on a decent interim report? | paudud
29/3/2002 17:56 | Brought this one back to the top, as it has the most relevant title - DFS look like they are finally breaking out of their recent trading range | zzaxx99
15/11/2001 15:35 | Andy, Out of deference to paying subscribers, should you not wait at least a week before posting conclusions from Analyst, or any other tip sheet for that matter?(not that Analyst would like to be called a tip sheet). | bludax
14/11/2001 19:11 | Rated as attractive in this month's Analyst magazine. 5 star quality of business. 4 star margin of safety. Here is their investment verdict - "The shares are an unbelievable long term bargain with so few business risks attached. Out net present value, based on reasonable assumptions, is twice the current share price and the IRR above 15%. The route to thsi level of share-owner value creation is credible and predictable to a high degree of certainty. The balance sheet, the level of sustainable incrementa returns, cash generating capability and operational management are all top drawer. Of course, the markey price may come cheaper if big-ticket discretionary consumer spending gets hit. But, over a time horizon of 5/10 years, DFS at 380p ust be one of the best investments around today. ATTRACTIVE" This was published in the November issue. I'm not going to reproduce the whole article as it goes on for 4 closely argued pages. Andy | v11slr
14/11/2001 18:17 | volume doesn't appear to be that high but these appear to be going into orbit, can anyone shed any light ?? | hornet99
11/10/2001 13:13 | Got into these prior to the results as i wanted to balance my portfolio with an income generating share . Picked DFS as it appears to be a reasonable cash generator with a p/e ratio im comfortable with . Think it may warrant a re-rating higher if we dont slip into a full blown recession . Some may have been dissapointed that there wasnt a special dividend announced with the results but the company have to pay the tax man first . Once this is cleared there will still be enough cash to give the shareholders a special dividend. KS | kaiser_soze
11/10/2001 09:36 | would be interest in holders/followers' views of today's figures which seem top end of forecasts and looking healthy. p/e 12.2 yield 5.2% There was something i read about expecting a special dividend payout because of the cash pile but this hasn't happened so is there some degree of disappointment on this? clink | clink

17/9/2001 10:13 | About to get crushed. Non food retail sales were hammered last week. As we enter a recession electrical brown and white goods plus high ticket furniture get hammered. DFS are likely to respond with margin cutting price cuts but with people cautious on credit selling sofa's is going to be very tough. Profits are likely to be very badly squeezed. | davidblack

25/6/2001 20:15 | Hello Has anybody got idea why is this stock going down? Is there some bad news I don't know about? | m.maly
19/6/2001 15:33 | Appears in the June issue of Analyst "DFS is in our view a truly outstanding business" - " I would have no hesitation in taking a material long-term investment" - ATTRACTIVE price quoted 474p. DYOR - Analyst seem to have made a lot of mistakes in their recent stock selection though they do claim to be out performing the Footsie I think primarily due to JJB, Gamesworkshop and EBQ. 18/5/2001 08:59 | DFS stated by IC yesterday as good long term, high yield share. | jackrussel
18/5/2001 08:39 | I've I know virtually nothing about DFS, being interested purely on the basis of its chart. Casting around for comments, I received this reply on CB - "Agree the chart looks very tempting but one thing to bear in mind. The result from the European court concerning overpayment of VAT is due any day now. Recent comment has suggested better repayment to DFS than earlier thought...but if it isn't short term profit taking will set in." I have very vague memories of this VAT overpayment case, but can't remember any of the details (I don't generally follow retail sector very closely, having made 2 disasterous forays into it in the past). Basically, all I can remember is that some retail firms challenged VAT payments, and won, but can't recollect any details. Can anyone shed any light on this? Or point me at a reference? | zzaxx99 |
