Final results better than I (and market forecasts) expected and a very positve outlook in the current economy. You have to ignore the goodwill write off though.

trading update: "Dewhurst PLC, an independent supplier of quality components to the lift, keypad and rail industries, is pleased to announce the following pre-close trading update for the year ended 30 September 2010. Profit before taxation for the period is expected to be significantly ahead of market expectations. This is primarily due to better than expected sales in Europe and Asia as well as benefiting from positive exchange rate movements of our overseas operations. Dewhurst's preliminary results for the year ended 30 September 2010 are expected to be announced in early December 2010. Richard Dewhurst, Chairman, commented "The international spread of our business has given us resilience this year and allowed the Group to perform better than expected despite the poor economic conditions in the UK."

Interims out: should lead to slight increase in full year forecasts. This company tells it like it is and is well placed to prosper in a difficult UK environment. Cash generation still good. Cash balances now stand at £8.8m vs a mcap of £18.8m. PE of around 6 or 7 is good value IMHO.

No comment on these shares since the finals, which I must admit, I missed and just coaught up on. OTW very encouraging results, quite a bit better than I felt they were forecasting at the interims. The share price has responded since and I am delighted to hold shares in a niche engineering group which is a genuine worlkd leader in its small sphere. It is alos very pleasing that the family continue to be heavily involved and have stukc to their knitting. With £7.5m of cash sitting on the balance sheet, this could be a good time for more small acquisitions. The dilemma for small companies with cash is whether to continue share buybacks and reduce the liquidity still further, but this is a very nice problem to have. Keep up the good work guys!

It's just too small and shares are too illiquid, but it is very well run and keeps churning out profits and reasonable dividend growth.

The results were issued in December; they've only just put the accounts on the web-site though.

Yes, it's incredibly cheap: I keep this one for the very long term as they keep churning out decent results year in year out.

Yes, very happy to hold. I don't expect any positive price action though! They have actually held up very well this year, and even so are ludicrously cheap.

Time to reinvigorate this thread after cracking results today. Another small company with £5m of cash on the balance sheet, highly profitable and a market cap of only around £14m. PE of 3.9x on the A shares. Does anyone else hold these?

The usual statement - we made more money but the future is gloomy. Been saying that for the last two years. One suspects fiscal ultra-conservatism or.....

Put in 1500 "at best". Just gone through @207P. Looks as if it caused the price to drop 1P - sorry about that. It's the first time I recall any deal of mine having an effect on a share price.
