Shuisky

You sound as though you were close to things
Which side?

The fact is the pension deficit position could not be reconciled between Buyer and Trustees(and PB with Hawkpoint at his side as always swiftly ended the discussions)

A finish above £1.35 would be nice ;)

CWK very strong this morning.

Looks like Pork products are the place to be .

It will have been substantially reduced in any case.

Lets focus on the real reason to hold the shares.

The No1 Globally in their Market and

rapidly rising Global meat comsunption, particularly in China.

£1.45 plus around results imv - and this may be too cautious.

A Director spending neealy 50k of his hard earned cash just before the
Close period - should clrealy signal the potential here.

The pension fund is weighted towards equities so the recent rise would have benefitted them tremendously. Furthermore, a pension fund is a 'fund' and does not have to be paid off immediaterly like say fixed term debt.

The talks were pulled off in 2007 NOT 'because they were unable to reach agreement over pension deficit', this implies that there was an issue with the quantum. It wasn't. AFAIUI, the issue was over the subordination of that debt given a leveraged takeover.

The 'pension deficit' issue is a red herring IMHO.

In April 07 the Company called off talks with private equity bidder because they were unable to reach agreement over pension deficit

Nothing much has chnged on that front whilst operations have made substantial strides

I backed this at flotation in the mid 1990's, so know the Company very well
Even then DVO was very highly thought of.

Always thought Prvate Equity may swoop at some point.
I would prefer Devro to remain listed and prosper.

I think you have invested wisely. Not a stellar/risky return but solid and much better than a savings account!

Yes, I thought the meaning was crystal clear.
I have bought 63,000 shares, may add some more.

Essential - Although not clear I do take it you mean the defecit and not the dividend.

Anybody else been to see the company at the new factory in Prague?

My view is that it will be materially reduced on 12 months ago.

A director has bought 50k 's worth and just before that Close period.

Tells me all I need to know.

Pension fund is clearly an issue, being a break on dividend increases
Ass - glad you are not a trusteee of my pension fund

Pension fund NOT an issue. If equity markets don't take care of it, interest rates will.
Nice after market RNS Director buy!

I bought 63,000 following the Director buy, so I think they are.

Very difficult to get hold of and online (3,000 shares) was a non starter.

Had to use my Nat West Elite Brokerline, although the charges are very
good for a Phone dealing service.

The final dividend announcement will tell you whether they think they are now on top of the issue

I have had a look at that in more detail, and I now consider
that this may have been substantially reduced with the rise in equity Markets.

We may in fact be in for a very pleasant suprise on that front.

As I said he had just returned from overseas reviews of 2010 budgets

EDIT: and hopefully has some ideas on the pension deficit

Interesting that the large Director buy was just before the Close period.

One of the last windows to buy before the Full year results in Feburary.

Yes it was made in the week following overseas budget reviews.
He obviously like what he reviewed.

significant Director purchase in Devro for a number of years.

may need to be taken into account when valuing DVO imv,
although DVO is highly cash generative.
