Morning chaps

The announcement this morning got me interested:-

CAUTIONARY ANNOUNCEMENT

Shareholders are advised that the Company has commenced a process intended to realise value from its last remaining operation, being Delta EMD South Africa, which process might result in the disposal of that operation. This process might have a material effect on the price of the Company's securities and accordingly, shareholders are advised to exercise caution when dealing in the Company's securities until a further announcement is made.

What sort of effect would a "material effect" on Delta SA have on 56% UK Delta holder? Is there an opportunity here that the market hasn't cottoned on to yet, or is it small beer?

I'm not familiar enough with the company to make a properly informed opinion but I would appreciate any comments from Delta followers here.

One of the 500k trades has been deleted but there another purchase for 429k at the same price.

The cash isn't going on the pension. The last deficit was 26mm (although that will increase when the current valuation with more conservative assumptions is finalised).

Their comment about using all the cash is the cost of buying annuities/insurance to completely remove any possible future pension liabilities. On that basis, half the companies in the FTSE 100 should have negative market caps!

Yes, they seem to have gone into anti spin mode rather than spin mode for this one! Reasonable progress could have been presented in a more positive light, wonder why?

Well rather firm on a weak market day - ahead of that trading statement - good news coming hopefull - ought to be - looks stonking cheap.

I hoper they emphasise that they have half the mkt cap in cash - I think the market is missing that at the moment.

am out now but unless it holds here at the 20day ma (176) its going to 50 day at 163 and the chart trendline support is at 176 as well
