19/3/2008 21:24 | Hi all, Does anyone know why we saw such a large drop in share price today? Do you think it's just a delayed reaction to the results? Reading through them I thought they were looking quite good - the exceptional payment was known about ages ago so should be factored in already - the pension is an issue but they seem to be going about fixing it in a very responsible manner. Any thoughts? A 6% drop in the day is never good! Cheers, S | sharriss
19/3/2008 11:22 | Hi wipo1, Yes, the pension situation is the problem , but I think one that will be resolved this year. Lets see, tempted to buy more but just waiting. | hvs
19/3/2008 11:17 | p.s Size of the pension still a worry especially with the state of markets, hopefully DLTA can sort this out and downsize it. | wipo1
17/3/2008 10:07 | Hi HVS, Results out today, look not too bad, DLTA still have a wad of cash, 128million quid, should support the price even in these markets? Yeah things very tough, Labour only bothering about public sector no workers! Borrowing too much cash, I am topping up in euros, pound sinking as UK has a load of debt. | wipo1
13/3/2008 11:18 | Hi wipo1, It was 15th March last time so any time now I would say. Markets are not easy but I am trying to cope by buying cheap stock and hopefully we will have a rebound. The Uk market in small caps is now very very cheap. Only problem is this shower called NO LABOUR who only want UNIONS and "CIVIL" servants. | hvs
12/3/2008 09:05 | Hi HVS, Hope you are doing ok, do you know when Delta's results are due? thanks | wipo1
04/2/2008 20:04 | Hi wipo, Unfortunately management did not come CLEAN on what was discussed. I do not like that. But it can come good. Take care my friend. | hvs
31/1/2008 22:27 | Hi HVS, I will have a look at GFRD thx, I like the look of one of your other fav's SIXH -looks very cheap trading well under NAV. Do you think a bid could resurface for this one? Cheers | wipo1
25/1/2008 14:55 | Hi wipo ! You as well take care. I feel housebuilding will return to favour. Have a look at GFRD . | hvs
23/1/2008 14:10 | Hi HVS, thanks for info. Yes sounds good advice. I am holding a few small caps, CGS,BMS and still in DLTA due to the massive discount to NAV. On a longer view there is great value, who dares wins as del boy says! take care. | wipo1
20/1/2008 12:09 | Hi wipo 1 You wise man. Cash is KING. This is not a big purchase , remeber reading about it and was not a big amount. I forget the exact figure. There is so much value out there in small caps. Just read an artcle which says buy less than £ 100 mill caps where you know the company and sit tight. IS SMALL GOING TO BE BEAUTIFUL AGAIN ? The banks have had it and going lower, oil is also going lower, soon metals will follow. | hvs
15/1/2008 21:20 | Hi HVS, tough times in markets, hope you are doing ok. I am mostly in cash, still have a few shares Hopefully DLTA can put its problems with EMD behind it and sort out the pension. Solid support at 100p, very low market cap compared to the cash pile. I wonder how much they paid for the Aluminium maker and if it will be earnings enhancing? I am hanging on here because I see no point selling when this is trading below NAV and most of the assets are cash. | wipo1
15/1/2008 21:14 | LONDON (Thomson Financial) - Delta PLC expects to book a significant full-year exceptional charge due to the closure of Delta EMD's Australian facility in March but it still sees full-year pre-exceptional trading in line with expectations. The company said its Galvanizing Services and Engineered Steel Products businesses performed very well, offsetting losses at Delta EMD. It announced it has bought aluminium sunscreen maker Hi-Light Industries Pty Ltd for an undisclosed sum. Delta said the deal is the first step in its strategy of buying businesses which fit alongside its existing Australian, Asian and US-based operations. It has also committed significant investment to enlarge the capacity of its Australian galvanizing businesses which will start in 2008 and will be commissioned in 2009, Delta said. The performance of Delta EMD is expected to improve in 2008 with a better sales mix following the closure of the loss-making Australian facility. The total liabilities of the Delta Pension Plan remain disproportionately large in comparison to the group, the company said adding that it is currently assessing an option to reduce the size of the Delta Pension plan and expects to determine a course of action by March. The Australian economy is expected to remain strong providing very good market conditions for many of the group's businesses, Delta said. The competitive pressures and inflationary cost increases are likely to challenge margins, and lower zinc prices will pressure selling prices at its Galvanizing Services businesses, it added. Delta said its further growth over time will be driven by investment. The group's preliminary results for the year ended Dec 31, 2007 will be announced in March. | wipo1
14/1/2008 17:48 | The price becoming silly now, MMs just marking it down to test 100p support again. Hopefully their cash pile is not in UK sterling, changing it to euros or ausie dollar would be a better bet! | wipo1
24/12/2007 12:35 | Hi wipi1, Thank you very much. All the best to you and the family. Have a very merry Xmas and hopefully a very profitable NEW YEAR. | hvs
24/12/2007 11:37 | Merry xmas HVS, have a good one, all the best. | wipo1
21/12/2007 17:09 | And its TAKING OFF | hvs
19/12/2007 10:37 | Hi wipo No worries here at all. Just watch it take off now. With plenty of DOSH in the BANK. | hvs
19/12/2007 10:26 | Rellestrohs - bust with over 100m in the bank.you been having a xmas tipple early!?lol Hi Hvs, Yeah get rid of the loss makers now we can move upwards now. | wipo1
18/12/2007 14:17 | Looks bust to me. | rellestrohs
18/12/2007 14:04 | No need to worry about the loss. The most important thing is that it is going to very very CASH P{OSITIVE when they sell off USTRALIA. So no worries , they have sold loss making assets,. | hvs
18/12/2007 14:02 | Looks as though the news about the south african subsidiary had leaked. Need to quantify the loss. | pugugly
17/12/2007 16:25 | Pugugly- I don't think its that bad, how much do you think the pension defecit actually is or will be?? Surely it can't be anywhere near the massive cash pile they have? If you are looking for a short, look at RAB, they have a massive worthless stake in Northern crock and will get nothing back when it is nationalised by bill and ben at no 10 and 11. | wipo1
17/12/2007 15:39 | Fallen out of the bottom of the downtrend - Could it be that the pension deficit is significanlty increasing due to the fall in the market? If so then this is a geared short and the bottom will be determined by the pension shortfall at the bottom of this bear market LESS the cash bleed needed to satisfy the demands of the pension trustees. ?? Am I right or have I missed somethng? | pugugly |
