The Mail's tip is here:

This will attract more attention to DKL - hopefully followed by a Q4 trading update which highlights the effect that the "soaring" CPO prices will have on the company for the forthcoming production high season.

DKL is featured as Daily Mails punt of the week, no new information but helps raise the profile

I think the article neatly summarises why we are all here. Monday could now be interesting.

I'm happy there was no RNS yesterday as often companies dump a bad RNS on a Friday.

Hopefully the coming week will have DKL release a positive statement.

PUNT OF THE WEEK:

Dekel Agri-vision's stock is up almost 50% as the price of palm oil soars

By Daily Mail City & Finance Reporter
Published: 21:51, 10 January 2020 | Updated: 09:41, 11 January 2020

What is it?

An agriculture company that produces palm oil in Ivory Coast, West Africa. It joined AIM in 2013 and is worth £16.3million.
What's the latest?

In December it joined with European renewable energy firm Green Enesys Holdings to develop a solar and biomass plant in Ivory Coast.
A second palm oil plant is under development and a cashew processing facility opens this year.

Who backs it?

Co-founder and chief executive Youval Rasin is the largest shareholder, with a 15.9 per cent holding. Individuals make up many of the top-10 investors.
The Government-backed social impact investor AgDevCo holds 9.7 per cent of shares.

Why should you invest?

Palm oil prices are soaring and have sent Dekel Agri-Vision's stock up almost 50 per cent since the beginning of December.
Its move into cashews and power producing will help it diversify in future.
And why shouldn't you?

Commodity prices can be volatile and if the value of palm oil is hit, Dekel Agri-Vision would likely take a bruising. Developing new projects could be expensive over the coming years.

Some (mainly on LSE) were apparently expecting a production update this morning - and it seems there were a few here for a trade so have had to exit. Seems a very risky strategy and a waste of time and adrenaline to me. Especially when the outlook seems so good.

An update is certainly due, but could be any day now, being on the 10th, 16th and 17th January in prior years. My bet is on Monday morning, which would be ideal to maximise reaction over the coming week assuming the outlook is as favourable as the current booming CPO prices would indicate.

Yep, and given how illiquid it is you definitely don’t want to be trying to buy tomorrow morning! A positive update should see a nice gap up in open you would imagine...

Hi Hrvy88 AS I said DKL have a complicated pricing structure. They for example sell fertiliser to smallholders at a subsidised rate in return for exclusivity of supply. Your question of integrated farms and mills is the age old in-house v outsourcing question tow hich there is no one good single answer. However DKL's model is to work with a lot of smallholders in the region as opposed to dealing with a large supplier or moving supply in-house.
Tomorrow's production update should be interesting and as we move from low season and into their high-season from January 2020 which makes the outlook pretty important.

The CPO price chart has been further updated to Monday, showing a further rise to $865:

Thx. So for the remaining 95% DKL purchases at local price for ffb and sells the cpo using the formula you mentioned. So it's cost of FFB, cost of mill and other overhead plugged into CPO price. Is milling a good business? Wouldn't integrated farms and mills do better?

Thanks rivaldo. That's a rise of $400 per tonne since Jan 2019 (reaholdings numbers).

The REA palm oil price chart showed $786 on December 18th - it's finally been updated today and now shows $860 as at December 30th and going up like a rocket!

Could be some sort term proit taking by those who bought at the beginning of October- Some 80% odd profit might be deemed wothwhile after Christmas expenses.

Hrvy8888 It takes some time for current prices to feed through. Local prices of CPO for DKL are roughly based on the average CPO price over the past month of CIF Rotterdam.Their own plantations only account for 5% of supply.
