A brief overnight update from Mark Watson-Williams on Master Investor FYI:

"Dekel Agri-Vision (LON:DKL) – up 115% in three months and going higher

Another company in the palm oil sector is this £20m tiddler.

After the company declared its November production figures in mid-December, brokers Arden maintained their ‘buy’ recommendation on the shares, looking for 8p a share in due course.

Subsequently they rose to 4.7p. Closing at 4.3p on New Year’s Eve they have been an excellent performer since I profiled the company in late September, now up 115% and through my aim point.

Clearly, they have a good feel about them."

Going by today's trades it seems the real spread is 4.25p-4.375p (the 4.25p looks like a sell at mid-price), so actually pretty small - always ignore the published spread.

Meanwhile the CPO price continues its fantastic rise - which will mean January-March at minimum of DKL's upcoming high season should be terrific assuming production is half-decent:

The current high CPO prices are expected to persist at least through Q1'21 - i.e DKL's high season - and are also expected to lead to high prices for FFBs etc:



Note the 25-year high for CPO futures!

"PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) expects the current high prices of crude palm oil (CPO) trading above RM3,000 per tonne mark will continue until the first quarter of 2021, given the tight supply situation.

According to MPOB chairman Datuk Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub, the monsoon season which brings about floods in many parts of oil palm areas could also affect palm oil production this month up until early next year.

“This will lead to further palm oil supply tightness that will result in firmer CPO prices going into 2021, ” he added.

The CPO spot price was traded at RM3,701 per tonne on Dec 23 while the third-month benchmark CPO futures settled at RM3,854 per tonne, which is a 25-year high.

With the higher CPO prices, Ahmad Jazlan told StarBiz via e-mail that the prices of other palm oil-related products would also be going up.
