very good set of results

I am pleased to report the Group has continued to deliver against its clear
strategy and has performed solidly with increases in revenue and profitability.

We have increased investment in our product pipeline and have continued to
strengthen our international businesses which, combined with our established
infrastructure, will ensure growth is maintained in the future.

Financial Highlights
Group revenue increased 5.5% from GBP350.0 million to GBP369.4 million.

Adjusted operating profit increased by 12.9% to GBP28.2 million (2009: GBP25.0
million). Adjusted profit before taxation rose 11.3% to GBP26.1 million (2009:
GBP23.4 million). Operating profit after deducting exceptional costs and
amortisation of acquired intangibles was GBP19.9 million (2009: GBP17.7
million). Profit before taxation on the same basis was GBP17.7million (2009:
GBP16.1 million).

Adjusted basic earnings per share was 29.50 pence, up 15.2% from the 25.61 pence
achieved in 2009. Earnings per share after exceptional costs and amortisation
of acquired intangibles was 19.97 pence (2009: 17.27 pence).

"Very cleverly worded trading statement."

That's why they pay such huge sums to FDs these days!!!!

Very cleverly worded trading statement.

"Group revenue was up 5.3"

What we actually want to know is the change in sales on a constant currency basis....given other companies that have issued recent updates the rule of thumb is that constant currency changes have been 5-6% lower than unadjusted figures.
From this I would conclude that sales are actually pretty static.

I have been tempted to get in here but the high rating somewhat scares me.
Just look what happened to CNT when it issued its profits warning!
If there is no/very low divi to back up the share price then it just goes into freefall.
From a technical perspective there is probably an arguement for taking a position but there are so many other decent profitable stocks offering dividends in excess of 5% at the moment.

I think the problem here is a pe of 27 is a pretty fancy rating for a stock with a 5 year compound growth rate of 13%.

Autonomy has a 5 year compound growth rate of 63% and a pe of only 34.

It is crude but by that measure DPH is 4 times as expensive as AU. And though very different they are both growth stocks.

Dechra may be in secure sector with secure revenues but it is very very expensive.

Agree, problem is I can't how they're going to make any more savings, that is unless the directors are willing to take a pay cut :))
