Looks like the 2 pence range cliff edge approaches hanging by its finger tips now.

Stop losses will be triggered again.

John Lewis last weeks sales:

"Total sales for the week were up 0.7% on last year driven by customers continuing to shop Clearance offers and beginning to shop Spring/Summer ranges.
Fashion sales were up 4.9%. Womenswear Accessories had a particularly strong week with sales up 19.2%. Childrenswear, Nursery and Haberdashery also performed well with sales up 7.3%.

Overall Home sales were down 0.5%. Gifts, Cook and Dine had a strong week with sales up 8.2% on last year driven by Clearance and Special Buy products. Furniture and Flooring sales were up 2.5% on last year.
Electrical and Home Technology sales were down 1.2%. Communications Technology sales were up 7.1% primarily due to strong demand for Apple products."

comment:

A 0.7% uplift on clearance is worse than it seems as margins will be poor. The partnership as a whole heading for zero growth for the year with only 2 weeks to go before year end. Therefore profits look like they will be significantly hit.

Come on, you are all unfair on Qantas. He was right anyway, the share did hit 3.48 before Xmas, just a different one to what everybody thought he meant!

If Ashley buys the equity he owns all the debt"

I take it that was a typo and you meant OWES all the debt....

If Ashley buys the equity he owns all the debt. On the other hand anyone that buys the debt owns the equity. Even then bond pricing suggests only the facility lenders get out whole. All equity secures right now is a possible opportunity to add more money in a refinance. At this time it is in no landlord's interest to forgo the rents owing to them. This last as long as DEB can still pay.

For a 53 year old man, you need to lighten up a bit, life is short as they say.
