OMG. Just seen that TCG bonds are now in the 30s. Bankers will see this and refuse to finance the bank deal. The bonds and equity provide additional security for the bank debt but this has all but gone. I imagine that ABTA will be all over them !

think I beat the Mirror to that story.

This year will be tough and I see no increase in eps due to lower prices.
Short term we may get a sell off BUT when tcg shuts shop or slims right down there will be another million punters to book holidays

I get it that Dart will emerge victorious and gain market share... but they sell a lot of seats without holidays...so their operational gearing might make them vulnerable, particularly in the season shoulders. If people have sense, or even if they just want to be careful this year, they can book direct with a hotel and take advantage of collapsing airfares everywhere. Either way, Dart might get caught in the crossfire. Rising oil prices might not help either...and I suspect climate levy will be around in a few years time because the UK loves to shoot itself in the foot. Avoid and buy the shares when the blood is truly on the streets. Not a pretty summer for margins methinks.

Even with the new discount the holiday we booked Dec 18 for July 19 is £600 more. It's a great strap line but who knows the effect on the bottom line.

Not sure they need to discount that heavily. TCG customers have practically nowhere to go: Tui have grounded planes and EZJ not anywhere near ready.

Article in the Times today saying the payment processors are withholding moneys from TCG. This is precisely how negative working capital businesses, like sofa and holiday cos, go bust.

you have to think this is going to help over capacity and Jet2..only an idiot would book a TC holiday and spend his hard earned wedge for his 2 week summer holiday after reading the press coverage over the last 4 days or so..back end of last year shook bookings ..now its curtains ..seems that it's yet to sink in yet that Jet2 stands to benefit out of a TC collapse ..

I think DTG's shares are about to take off. Potential TCG customers have very few options: Tui has a number of 737 Max grounded are going to incur costs to cover this and EZJ are nowhere near ready.

The demise of TCG has been picked up by the tabloids. You'd have to be reckless or ignorant to book a holiday with TCG and hotels etc will be reluctant to give TCG any credit.

TCG 6.25% bonds now trade at 47. I'm not sure that TCG will make it through the summer.

Goes to show what happens when one wants to will the markets. I warned everyone long there to get out at 29p one day post that 15% jump losing steam but folks rather lose money than own opinions. TCG heading to the gutter

Seems that EZJ Holidays won't take off till 2020, with bookings from late 2019:-

"easyJet has made excellent progress in setting up its Holidays business and expects to launch the offering by the end of the year, selling holidays for the summer 2020 season. The focus over the past six months has been to establish a structure and platform for the business as well as continue to define the offering.

The opportunity remains significant, with an estimated European Package Holiday market of around €60 billion(6) which is growing at 6% per annum. easyJet's network of high frequencies to 157 airports in Europe is expected to fly over 100 million seats this financial year and at present easyJet only sells accommodation to around 500,000 of its existing customers.

In March easyJet Holidays announced the appointments to its leadership team, which is made up of a combination of people already working for easyJet who bring with them extensive business and brand knowledge along with newly appointed experienced travel industry professionals. The Holidays Board will bring the experience, ambition and diversity that will be needed to build and grow easyJet Holidays into a major holidays business.

easyJet has also now appointed two best in class technology partners in Valtech, who will design and build the front end web platform, as well as Atcore as the back end provider who have led the provision of leading edge travel technology over a number of decades. They are uniquely placed to develop a platform that can provide a bespoke easyJet Holidays product and customer proposition but can scale across all easyJet's markets as it grows.

With the team, structure and technology now in place, easyJet Holidays is continuing to develop its direct relationships with key hotel partners throughout Europe and negotiations are well advanced. easyJet's aim is to work with the most loved hotels in city, beach and ski destinations and to complement these hand-picked hotels with a full range of accommodation options through our partners.

easyJet plans to launch its Holidays business at the end of 2019, selling holidays for summer 2020."

Only if we see a sudden move south on DTG + on huge volumes + on no news that would signal trouble ahead. Until then, DTG is sailing this well.

Commodities can also compete (differentiate) on quality and service.
Eg in crude oil this applies so I would think it will also apply to DTG.
If the price is same or similar another differentiator will sway the buyer.

Be sure that we are getting caught in this.
Flight back to Man from FAO was no more than 75% full yesterday ( saga Wednesday ) it was a 757 probably just a few too many for a 737.
As I said last night 25£ to return home today is not economical.
So I do think we may well see a negative forecast in the short term.
DTG are strong and will grow stronger.
These are blips in growing the airline and holiday business that’s hurting TUZi and TCG

They are speculating on the TCG board that Dart is suffering similarly to TCG. Be interesting to see the justification for that but I suspect it is just de rampers.
