I was surprised too CT in a pleasant way that the price has gone up. Here's hoping that the long term is more than a theory.

Surprised we have gone up with the news yesterday.
Now flying empty planes again one way for the next 4 weeks at least.
It’s a long road with many more bumps to come.
Agree with the long term theory but I am sure in 6/12 months there will still be plenty to go for.

Re your post above, I notice DTG almost always trails IAG and EZJ by a day or two. Its an anomaly that I am yet to figure out.

I know you are pal and happy to hear that - you are one of the few genuinely smart long term players here and that’s why I always enjoy your posts.

My comment on long term players was aimed at the larger community of such participants who think they really understand the long term game (but they don't).

You are def not one of those.

I am on a free roll a number of times over with Dart. However we agree it is an excellent long term investment.

I remember ct - just a few weeks back - making a long term case for £20 at some point in the future.


If one believes that then upside is about 1400p from current levels. If DTG goes bust (negligible but in the realm of what’s possible in this world) that gives you a max downside of 600p.

In other words , one’s reward to risk stands at 2.3. Risk no more than 3-5% of one’s capital and you have a good trade (or investment as most prefer to call it).

It’s one hell of a way to play the game.

P.S. If long termers (in reality most are not even aware of how basic math helps source investment ideas, unfortunately) would apply the above logic then at 200p most would have rushed in to buy at 10:1 reward to risk but instead they all panicked and then bailed out losing tons of money. Doing so, they did precisely the opposite of what a "theoretical" (as in practice there are very very few who apply things properly) value investor does. Further, a rational long term buyer at 200p would have probably halved their stake and sold somewhere into the magnificent rise to 1000p making sure to have covered the original investment cost completely and would be then riding on a free roll!

I do not practice long term but if I were then this is the time to get in not moan and rationalise what ifs. You buy when there is blood on the streets as the good old NR was fond of saying.

OH - it goes to show what you said yourself the other day that the market has already discounted the worst. DTG being only about 20% off prior to TC going bust is effectively saying that the market is quite confident about future prospects once we leave C19 behind. Good luck.

I’m waiting to buy back in having sold the lot.
SP currently defying logic for what is presently a f’ed up industry.
EZJ and IAG are the only travel stocks l watch that are going down.
Surely there’ll be an opportunity to pick dart up cheaper?

The news always looks very bad at the bottom, if you wait you pay more. So best to buy a small amount and add to it overtime.
