Dairy Crest milk pricing formula 'ready by April'

Friday 07 December 2012 08:30

Dairy Crest and its producer organisation Dairy Crest Direct (DCD) have announced plans to offer farmers on standard contracts the opportunity to move to a "groundbreaking" formula-based milk price.

The pricing mechanism has been developed by Stephen Bradley, from the milk price comparison website milkprices.com, and will be available from 1 April 2013.

Motley Fool

Dairy Crest Group (LSE: DCG) hit a new 52-week high today, of 368.5p, taking the shares up 27% since their low point of 290p in June after the price hit a slump. Looking at the bigger picture, the share price has been pretty flat over the past couple of years, but today's high is around 114% up since the dark days of December 2008.
Although there is a fall in earnings per share expected this year, the latest City forecasts for the year to March 2013 suggest a dividend yield of 5.8%, so the shares might be worth considering just for that.

Milk price increases from Dairy Crest

26 November 2012

Dairy Crest has confirmed price increases in both its liquid and Davidstow contracts.

And it has pledged to ramp up prices further, provided it can recoup the money from customers although the company warns of the price competition from imported cheese.

The liquid price will increase by 1ppl from January 1 taking the standard litre to 30ppl while Davidstow milk-for-cheeese producers will see a 1.25ppl increase taking their price to a record high of 30.25ppl from the same date.

Group milk procurement director Mike Sheldon said, "Many dairy farmers continue to struggle in the current climate - they need our support, just as we and our customers need their milk. To move forward we have to understand each other's problems and work together to find lasting solutions. By increasing our milk price again we are doing what we said we'd do, within the constraints of a difficult marketplace.
