Just to be clear, there was no mention of NPower that I could see on the SKU2(? I think) meter itself but it came with NPower leaflets and an NPower-branded consumer display.

Hi MB,Thanks for that link, particularly useful to see again through the link the artwork summary (line 8) of the different SKU's. emptyend mentions NPower; I suppose different utilities may be overlaying (externally laser printing?) their branding on the surface of the generic range of Toshiba boxes?I have been away on holiday so may have missed something...... I noted some speculation here a couple of weeks ago that Arqiva were experiencing ongoing challenges in rolling-out their technology in the north? Is this hard-wired anywhere to the very recent formal government acknowledgement that SMETS2 completion will be late and more costly? And, more importantly, in your opinion is it linked somehow to the recent mini-surge in the CC sp! On the face of it the extended discounting of onset of maintenance income would suppress the share price Instead, are CC getting positioned to pick-up some juicy crumbs??Cheers, tightfist

Hi emptyend....tightfist is right that there are variants

The datasheets for the CPA approved Toshiba CHUBs (SKU2 and SKU3 variants) are also listed on the DCC website

A close collaborative partnership between CyanConnode, Telefónica and Toshiba resulted in a solution for second generation smart meters (SMETS2) to overcome network challenges to ensure that a smart meter remains ‘smart.’ Telefónica, (appointed as the preferred SMIP communications service provider for two-thirds of the UK), promoted CyanConnode’s Radio Frequency (RF) Machine-To-Machine (M2M) technology to extend the reach of its existing mobile (cellular) network, into locations where the cellular signal was not available (‘not-spots’).

Embedding CyanConnode’s technology into the Toshiba SMETS2 Telefónica Communications Hub has enabled smart meters to be in ‘not-spots’

[CyanConnode’s] RF mesh capability provides standards-based, critical infrastructure grade security that comprises:

Public Key Infrastructure certificates and certificate management
Key storage in Hardware Security Modules (HSMs)
State of the art cryptography ensure confidentiality, integrity, and availability of business data functions

The Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ) has defined a set of security requirements that are assessed under the standard Consumer Product Assurance (CPA) scheme. [CyanConnode’s] RF mesh technology has been tested as part of the CPA process for Toshiba’s Communication Hub by an accredited test laboratory.

The CPA approval for the Toshiba product is listed on the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) website

NCSC is the UK’s independent authority on cyber security.

...mmmm....interesting. I suspect if there are different versions then they are supplied to different installers. The box I saw was an NPower version. No easy way of telling what the full spec was.

Hiya,I understood from somewhere (maybe from the London springtime meeting?) that there are actually three models of Toshiba SMETS2 Smart meter, not all of which have the "top hat" on top? (which contains the CyanConnode mesh networking module).Worth checking out to see if we can a better understanding of the context of multiple comments. If correct, do do they have all three on the shelf in the installation van? I am on Economy7 tariff so I understand there is no Smart Meter available, and I don't wish to opt-out of the E7 tariff.Good luck, tightfist

Updated flag counter as I had set visits from countries too low - now reset to collect flags from 150 countries.

Most would call me wildly optimistic I presume !

Sorry for losing the old flag counter info - in case anyone was keeping track ? We had got upto 9451 visitors or thereabouts from 24 countries.

A hat trick of "Blue" days and hope I have not jinxed it :)

Even if a bit of my ARC luck rubs off...CYAN will be rocketing !

Is something fishy going on? This share is up the past 3 trading days which is very out of character for this world leading company. A big plus from this is it is now only down about 93% since JC arrived. A great performance.

Multi, LOL.I have been here since before listing, indeed I played a major role in the listing as NED of an investment company that was the only initial insti and originally.wasn't
going to convert warrants till I persuaded them to do so.
I still have lots, but offloaded some at higher levels.

Welcome onboard bscuit - yes I agree that it is a welcome 30% share price improvement, but a lot, lot more needed for LTHs.

I remain confident though :)

From recent trough to today peak in 3 days is unusual by Cyan standards,so big visitor increase is.no surprise.

3.9 to.5.4 is over 30%. But for LTH probably.too little etc!

Hi Tony8 - welcome onboard !

I recall JC saying that CYAN were approached with regards to the Northern territory of the smets2 rollout, as the contract holder was struggling to deliver. Whether that actually came to anything I don't know - but unlikely.

I am keeping my eyes peeled on news from India :)

Edit: 335 visits from 51 unique visitors according to Flag Counter - but hardly any posts. Mostly lurkers (as usual).

Hi tightfist,

I'm not expecting too much in the near term from the UK SMETS2 rollout revenues - for me the jewel in the revenue crown is definitely India. Any other revenues that come out of RoW, White label etc is a real bonus.

I too would be hugely disappointed if we are taken out early, but agree that JC and DW-P will hold out for a significant multiple of revenues. In my mind that event could be when we reach a market cap of at least £100-150m plus. Though this sum may seem hugely far fetched at this time, it is not at all inconceivable in the next few years. I am very much an optimist in CYAN and have bought accordingly.

We are awash with companies losing hundreds of millions of dollars every quarter and with no stated real prospect of making a profit, being market capped at tens of billions.

Something in the trading in the last few days strikes me as unusual...the movement of the share price upwards on small volumes, augurs well in my opinion.

Let's hope we are delighted shortly with some juicy contract news....

Approximately 300 visitors to this BB today, usually around 100. Maybe there's been a leak and we are to be part of the solution to Northern SMETS problems. Monday could be interesting. Have a good weekend everyone.

I am really concerned about the prospects for a low-ball bid. If one sells-off (values) the SMETS2 cash flow what is the IP valued at by the market - diddly squat at present! However I think DJ-P and JC would be a big obstacle to striking a deal unless the price was several multiples.....?

Yes and No - I am concerned about the public image being created of Smart Meters? SMETS1 wasn't great....
