Following the EESL tie up in the Middle East, it just was a matter of time...

Looks like CYAN will now take on and get working the huge numbers of smart meter contracts that EESL had won the contracts for but were unable to deliver....I reckon we are talking in 7 figure meters for starters just in India !!

Key MOU with Intellismart

CyanConnode, a world leader in Narrowband Radio Frequency Smart Mesh Networks, is pleased to announce that it has signed a MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) with Intellismart, (Intellismart Infrastructure Private Limited), a joint venture company formed by EESL, (Energy Efficiency Services Limited), and NIIF, (National Investment and Infrastructure Fund).

Intellismart is a Meter Asset Provider which deploys smart meters by funding CAPEX, which it then recovers through an OPEX model. Intellismart is focusing on expediting the deployment of 250 million smart meters across India and it can operate at scale by leveraging the expertise and capital of EESL and NIIF. Under the MOU, CyanConnode and Intellismart will work on existing EESL and Intellismart projects as well as new ones, in India and international markets.

EESL is promoted by the Ministry of Power (the Government of India) as a Joint Venture of four public sector undertakings, whilst NIIF is a collaborative investment platform for international and Indian investors, which is anchored by the Government of India and it manages over USD 4.5 billion of equity capital.

This collaboration will leverage CyanConnode's market-leading RF mesh technology as well as EESL and Intellismart's experience delivering innovative large-scale projects.

John Cronin, Executive Chairman, CyanConnode, commented:

"I am delighted to announce this MOU with Intellismart, which builds upon our existing relationship with EESL. Intellismart, supported by EESL and NIIF, have an in-depth knowledge of the Indian smart metering market and have significant experience operating smart metering OPEX models.

"CyanConnode Pvt Limited, our Indian subsidiary, continues to operate in line with expectations during this latest wave of Covid. My thoughts are of course with the Indian people during this difficult time.

I look forward to a successful, collaborative partnership with Intellismart in both India and around the world."

mb, really exciting stuff, I thought (might have got confused) that there were some tenders just before Christmas, that I expected to hear news of by now. Have I lost the plot - or are we still waiting?

Best regards SBP

The tender is for just over 1.027m smart meters and break up of the areas also specified - Page 65

Communication requirements specified also look very promising for our tech...Pg 82 to 85

My guess is that the overall contract value for CYAN if we bid and are successful over 10 years could be worth circa $180 million dollars or approx $18m per year.

Working on a conservative estimate of $1.50 per month/per smart meter for CYAN as per my previous discussions with an industry expert on infrastructure BOOT schemes. (13 Apr, Post 1572)

Fingers crossed !

Good morning all :)

Another massive OPEX tender for about 1 million smart meters over 10 years. This tender is from Madhya Pradesh, where we have already have our flagship contract...so augurs well IMHO :)

A 106 page document...but some of the language used (my skim read) such as "device agnostic" on Page 19, SPV, RF etc seems to indicate this could be right up our street.

".....d) The AMISP shall ensure the interoperability of the AMI system so that the AMI system is
device agnostic and able to integrate any type of Smart meter which the utility desires to be part
of the AMI system.
e) The communication infrastructure (RF/CELLULAR (4G/NBIoT) shall be provided by AMISP
based on the experience of AMISP for selected areas which ranges from densely populated areas
to scattered areas. The decision of AMISP to select communication infrastructure for a particular
area shall be based on the condition to meet the performance SLA defined for AMISP...."

Funding seems to be from KfW which seems to perfectly fit the bill....

"....KfW is one of the world’s leading promotional banks. KfW has been committed to improving economic, social and environmental living conditions across the globe on behalf of the Federal Republic of Germany and the federal states since 1948.

To do this, it provided funds totalling EUR 135.3 billion in 2020 alone. Of this amount, 33% was used for climate and environmental protection. Its financing and promotional services are aligned with the United Nations’ Agenda 2030 and contribute to the achievement of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)...."

Good morning all :)

Opex Smart Meter contract procurements seem to picking up steam...Received an alert that Punjab State Power Corporation has announced one on 18 May 2021 for 117,500 smart meters over a 8 year period.

Not the easiest website to navigate....

Slowly but surely the pieces are coming together for a major deal, heading in the right direction....

Especially when you consider India's problems, not only covid, hurricanes as well.

This does seem rather like a Cyan/JC echo of-old rather than new-era exponential contracts delivery mode..... Who’s to say where SEW relationship may/may-not lead in years to come. tightfist

Good morning all :)

An encouraging partnership with a company with wide footprint and at a time when our customers / Govts are being pushed hard to increase their marginal contributions to the wider climate change agenda/targets.

So may not be huge commercially at this point or imminently, but this partnership increases the scope of solutions/technology on offer by CYAN.

Also increases the market visibility of our Company in new territories.

So a welcome and positive development IMHO !

A quick check of SEW reveals not a particularly massive or powerful company, and I note this is not for a specific contract, but always good to have industry approval and small deals are better than no deals.

Does anyone who follows Cyan more closely than me have a view on whether or not this £18m order is new news? My feeling is that it is not, or it would have to have been RNSed. I have emailed the company asking for clarification. Any thoughts anyone?
