22/1/2012 07:41 | Search "gold mines of wales" Re Welsh gold sells for 5 times the spot price. I would go as far to say it could sell for more if the company mining it made sure it did. LOOK AT Diamonds, not worth a cent but sell for a bomb after smart marketing. Mining welsh gold and you have 100% of the market.!!??? So not a ramp as if I was the boss I would be looking at 10 or 20 times the spot price. After all its only fit for kings and Queens.!! | tara7

22/1/2012 03:54 | This was originally written in response to tara7's post on the CHIP thread, but I moved it after deciding it was more appropriate here. That explains the slightly different wording of the quoted ramp about 500% premium. -------------- I would be cautious about claims made on www.goldminesofwales ...the Crown Mineral Estate who own the rights to all precious metals in the United Kingdom and Ireland (Presumably they mean the Crown Estates, which controls the Mines Royal - incidentally there is a 'Crown Mineral Estates' in New Zealand, and GMoW's MD is a New Zealander) The idea that the Crown Estates own mineral rights in the Republic of Ireland is preposterous to begin with, but if you go to their website you'll see that they only claim rights over a tiny fraction even of the UK: The total area where we own the rights to extract minerals covers some 115,500 hectares (285,500 acres), but the large majority of this is not actively worked. In fact they seem to increase their portfolio by buying more: In recent years we have invested in new operations with the purchase of mineral interests at Cauldon Low in Staffordshire and Nether Murthat in Scotland. But I may have got the wrong end of the stick - perhaps there's a 'Crown Mineral Estate' in the UK with no online presence. Anyway, when GMoW say Welsh Gold carries a premium that can run up to 5 times the international spot price. While it's not surprising if that is sometimes true, for modest quantities, I would not, myself, take their claim even further and say Welsh gold sells for 5 times the spot price. When one enthusiastic person reports the words of another enthusiastic person you can end up with a sort of chain of enthusiasm, otherwise known as a ramporama. Edit: As mechanical trader suggests above, if gold is not found in commercial quantities, it won't be mined. If it is, forget the premium. | zangdook
21/1/2012 20:54 | Agreed tara7 and I will have a look here when I have more time tomorrow but til then just to say yours is the same kind of post I expected after seeing cyan criticized at 22p, lgo at 12p or viy at 15p. All run by directors who believed that sound management and success at business could be amply replaced by copious share issuances. Great for their long term salary drawing not so great for their investors. | eric76

21/1/2012 18:00 | That is the same kind of post i had with PXS 0.6p to a high of 23p, COM 14p to £9.50p and NTA 2p to £1.40p If one buys when a company is dirt cheap you can often do very well indeed. All stocks have risk, and the odd one will go bust, however have a few like the above and you get to know how to beat the market big time.!! CSS is valued under £2M !! | tara7

21/1/2012 17:15 | David Lenigas moving from Spanish oil to Welsh gold, Didn't they make a song just for this eventuality? Best played loudly several times if you're considering investing in this one imo. | eric76
21/1/2012 15:57 | Welsh gold forms in veins or lodes of ore that yield up to 30 troy ounces per long ton (920 g/Mg). In comparison, South African gold ore yields just a quarter of a troy ounce for every tonne mined (8 g/Mg). However the South African gold fields are vastly more extensive. Welsh gold, when extracted, often has a reddish tint due to admixture with copper.[4] During refining, the gold is purified to the more common yellow color. Once Welsh gold is purified, it is indistinguishable from other gold by the normal physical and chemical tests and can only be distinguished by its isotopic composition.[5] | tara7

21/1/2012 12:15 | About Gold Mines of Wales Welsh Gold has a long running link with the British Royal family and The Royal status of Welsh Gold dates back to the Celtic Kingdoms where it was a badge of status and office. Welsh Gold is still today the Gold of choice for the British Royal wedding bands; The Duchess of Cambridge wears a Welsh Gold wedding ring following her recent marriage to Prince William. Queen Elizabeth had her ring made from the native Gold which comes from the Dolgellau Gold belts reef system. Such was her love for Welsh Gold it has continued to be an extremely desirable rare precious metal. Welsh Gold carries a premium that can run up to 5 times the international spot price. With much of 'recorded' production being used to manufacture Jewelry the premium has further increased with almost no pure Welsh Gold available today. On the 2nd December 2011 it was announced that 49% of GMOWs shares were acquired by publicly listed company 'CSS Stellar' in return for 24.9% of their shares and £100,000 towards the operations of GMOW. CSS Stellar will contribute to 49% of capital required to explore for precious metals over the Dolgellau Gold belt. | tara7

21/1/2012 12:10 | VIV but if gold is found in commercial quantitys it wont be sold for 5 times the market rate as this tara person says. Theirs gold everywhere. In river beds in all the north of England. But it has to be found to be a viable commercial find. And the above remark of 5 times is just plain misleading posters. | mechanical trader
