CRL bid approach for InnovaDerma rejected- announced today. Very positive indication of CRL's ambitions to grow the business. Believe likely more developments to come this year.

s34icknote- appears to be renewed interest in CRL of late and with good reason. Undervalued, consistent high growth and good prospects in coming years.

mauricemonkey- ought to clarify, mine a sense of bafflement rather than lack of understanding. Quite agree that where excitement concerned, little to be had in CRL's soap and shampoo! A profitable investment, however, I believe it will continue to be. The investment portfolio as a means of injecting excitement seems a rum thing to me, though to each his own.

Not really, they're an unexciting consumer defensive.
I said months ago a P/E of 15 is about we're going to get here. There's no broker notes or forecasts either so we just have to keep faith.
Additionally there's a lot of 'hot' sectors right now, technology, medical, clean energy. Soap and shampoo just isn't fashionable :)
Our day will come again.

Bafflement that there should be anybody looking to sell at this juncture. Still, everybody has their reasons. Time for a top-up.

from memory, in the piworld presentation this month Pippa Clark did mention a skin tanning brand would be something she would be interested in.

IDP might be a good fit.

The question for me is who could they look to buy, obviously there are private companies that I am not aware of but could Innovaderma IDP be a good fit?

Has the skinny tan brand, a stable of direct to consumers, a hair dye brand, men’s grooming and a couple of lines that don’t produce much revenue.

They outsource production so there could be economies of scale and they are dealing in the same markets and customers.

Back of house synergies and fills in on product gaps in CRLs products.

Has a current market cap of 9m on sale of last year 13.3m.

Not here to ramp as I hold both companies but I was intrigued by the comments at the end of the presentation around the growth, products they wanted to infill and the want to go DTC.

Spot on totally agree profits going up every year and pay a div. I like their diversification of products and seem to adapt well

Today isn’t the day to sell CRL. Record-breaking results during toughest market conditions in decades. Most recent panic does little to alter prospects here and may even be beneficial.

I think 6.6p may be a stretch but I am more bullish on an appropriate multiple than you. 6p looks likely, and for a company pushing 10% operating margins with no significant debt, freeholds, and consistent ROE in the 20s I don't see why they couldn't at a 15x multiple. 9x just seems anomalous.

I agree.

EPS 3.31p at half year.

6.6p EPS at full year with a forward PE ratio of 12 would give a share price of 79p.

even a 6p EPS at full year with the same PE ratio gives a share price of 72p.

positive write-up by ST in today's IC.

when he started covering CRL in February this year his target price was 75p.

ST conclusion post results

"Importantly, the company has Brexit proofed its business, registering a new subsidiary in Ireland and establishing a German subsidiary to facilitate trading within the EU.

On a trailing price/earnings (PE) ratio of 9, and price-to-book value of 2 times, Creightons’ ability to generate an impressive 20 per cent-plus post-tax return on equity is still significantly underrated. A small dividend adds to the attraction. Buy."
