29/9/2017 18:31 | “I bake pies,” she reportedly told one local, who added that when she was asked about her ingredients, Bakshaeva replied: “Whatever is around.” Unbelievable! If M&S were getting the cream of the produce, lord knows what the other retailers down the food chain were receiving! With one exception, Sainsbury's dry aged Fillet and Rib-Eye Premium Grade Steak, we have not bought meat or fish from any of the major supermarkets or M&S for over 15 years - routinely found many of their most expensive cuts tasteless and of modest quality. Source all our meat and fish from a local Award Winning butcher and fishmonger - costs more but, there is hardly any waste and it is of a much higher quality and full of flavour. | mount teide
29/9/2017 18:14 | Here is a link to the latest FSA audit at Two Sisters done yesterday. There were no breaches.... I also think that the average customer going into a Crawshaw store does not remotely think of any Two Sisters link to our company but will almost certainly take a closer look at the products on offer having seen the news and will still be looking for a good price. They may even go to Crawshaws as they think it will be better than buying at Aldi,Lidl, Sainsburys etc as they were named as the supermarkets involved | davidosh

29/9/2017 11:57 | Are you sure Crawshaws even buys anything from this particular 2S plant ? This will be bad news for 2S until the investigation is complete and no doubt things will tighten up and there may be fines etc but no indication that Crawshaws have done anything wrong or that their supply will be affected. I am sure they will put a statement out if they have to but in the main it will be business as usual and may even increase sales if some turn away from the five supermarkets mentioned. | davidosh
29/9/2017 11:45 | M&S suspends buying from chicken plant that fiddles kill dates A spokesman for Marks & Spencer said: “We have commenced an immediate investigation into these allegations and will not be taking any more product from the West Bromwich site until it has concluded to our satisfaction. That's good leadership from M&S | playful

29/9/2017 10:36 | The regulator will follow the path to our doors and if we don't actively voluntarily cooperate from the start things will not go well. | playful
29/9/2017 10:28 | CRAW - Im not sure they will need to mention it. 2 sisters are denying allegations and as long as they do that CRAW might be able to get away without mentioning it. If they do then reputation damage could really screw them over. One which they might not be able to recover from. | horndean eagle
29/9/2017 10:13 | I think it's fair to say the Food Standards Agency will end the activity of repurposing meat products full stop. FSA have this morning confirmed a full investigation is currently underway. The regulator has been joined by the supermarkets Tesco, Marks & Spencer, Sainsbury’s, Aldi and Lidl in announcing investigations into the 2SFG plant in West Bromwich, where the evidence of potential breaches was filmed. All five supermarkets are supplied by the plant. Are we announcing the same... | playful

29/9/2017 09:54 | RNS a bit slow coming out this morning...or are the board just going to ignore the situation and hope it will just go away! | optomistic
29/9/2017 00:00 | Always said selling cheap meat to the poor was an unattractive business model. They were very lucky to escape the horsemeat scandal (which btw I never understood - it sells at a premium in France and Belgium!) - taking the meat the supermarkets don't want means they have zero control of quality. It's trying to square the circle - they need top quality food-to-go to make a decent margin, and top quality meat to avoid the provenance and storage problems, but their sourcing doesn't provide that, and the customers they're serving are always looking for the cheapest possible deal, which eats the margins. Pressured from both sides. This will surely resuscitate the shop hygiene issues, and the two combined are potentially ruinous for shareholders. | supernumerary
28/9/2017 23:48 | Whichever way you look at this, it's pretty bad for CRAW and Collett's standing; CRAW was the 'local' butcher which was expanding steadily and being embraced as such by each new community. Between his coming on board and the present day - appreciate brexit has made matters more challenging - the performance has deteriorated. "Transformative partnership with 2Sisters Food Group progressing (commenced 25 May 2017): o Core supply routes now well established o Over 20% of fresh meat product now sourced from 2Sisters and expected to, holy fup, increase" | mcmather
28/9/2017 23:16 | I was going to ask how shareholders felt about the two sisters deal earlier. Didn't even consider this latest bombshell. Dosh stop dressing up a pig with lipstick your no better than any mug punter | waterloo01

28/9/2017 22:09 | In reality one will often eat food past its sell before / use by date. I am sure that they are ultra cautious and put a date a few days before it really becomes a problem. I doubt if a recall is required but the authorities will be in there asap to check all records. | haroldthegreat
28/9/2017 22:03 | Back to our previous suppliers but one does not know what goes on anywhere behind the scenes. The British authorities have recently gone into 2 drug manufacturers ,one in the UK and one abroad , and stopped them producing medicines. it is causing shortages and disruption in Pharmacies all over the country. | haroldthegreat |
