We should have a competition in one of our Chairmans escape rooms, me & KB against the management...

Potentially a star business if you apply the Richard Koch criteria

A top selling kitchen accessory on Amazon is the pressure cooker and the demonstrations On YouTube showing meat recipes could be easily replicated in store and shown on a permanent loop within the accessories section.

They might only buy the cooker once buy they'll keep coming back for the meat.

Chrisis33, I seem to remember they sold those disposable BBQ sets

Davidosh, always happy to share my thoughts with management.

Presumably they sell everything you need for the barbecue in the summer? Charcoal, firelighters?

I quite like the Kitchen accessories idea in the Factory stores and all good branded marketing. Have you suggested it to management ?

i put forward the idea of having corporate gifts of hampers at Christmas delivered in to local firms for handing out to staff and I think shareholders can often have good ideas so do put it forward.

On the point about toilet rolls....Is that not a natural requirement and useful item for the big buyers of Crawshaws products lol ?

If they have the extra space in factory shops why not have a Crawshaw kitchen accessories section where we could sell our own branded tea towels, oven gloves and aprons. We could have our own knife sets too, everything butchery related the list goes on...

They have always sold condiments and bread cakes which is fine, but chocolate?

You must make the customer experience enjoyable and different to a typical convenience store. How long before we see toilet rolls?

I've not seen confectionery (can't see it in the pic?) but the stores do sell baps, sauces, condiments, etc - ie the kind of stuff that may, in some way, compliment the main stuff that they are selling.

CRAW strikes me as attracting those who are buying in bulk (ie go to the factory shops for fairly substantial orders) or those who are simply buying that / the following nights tea. As such, it seems to make sense to sell baps, sauces, etc, and which will avoid folk having to nip in to their supermarket...

If one has a store with space one fills it with other things one can sell. The CEO is ex lidl and I am sure he knows what he is doing.I was impressed when I chatted to him a couple of years ago and purchased the shares.OK he got the pricing wrong and the share price suffered but he will have learnt from his mistake.one can't sell empty space so I would not knock him for adding any other items as long as they sell.

The photo shows a full range of confectionary including Easter Eggs!

Its a slippery road into being perceived as just another convenience store. We are presumably a specialist meat retailer so let's be true to ourselves.

I now have only one place left for the results presentation. I will not be doing a post lunch report but one of the other attendees may do one. I am far too busy arranging these things in the first place.

POST 5011

Obviously only playing at it tiger !!!April prices important lamb up, EU chicken up, EU pork up, imported beef up correct me if I'm wrong

American/South American and Irish beef all no change
Pork up as following last glut production is still not where it was.
Lamb stable.......try competing with Lidl at 3.99 a kilo ( its costing about 4.99 a kilo)
Chicken fillet price still around 2.70/2.80 a kilo into trade. Slightly firmer.

Steak as in Rib eye/fillet still short and making 12 to 20.00 a k depending on quality
