14/2/2024 07:54 | Costain got net cash of £165m and the company is only worth another 10-15% more than that in market cap, that's just plain nuts ;) | hamhamham1
14/2/2024 07:50 | Nice write up for Costain, and Kier, I hold both, imastu never agreed with that approach, he was 100% costain. | hamhamham1

02/2/2024 14:31 | BBC reporting that water bills will rise more than inflation as the water companies increase spending on infrastructure. Good news for COST as they are winning significant contracts in the water industry (see recent Northumbrian Water rns) "...Next year will see record levels of investment from water companies to secure the security of our water supply in the future and significantly reduce the amount of sewage in rivers and seas," said David Henderson, chief executive of Water UK. He said companies in England and Wales would invest more than £14.4bn in the next financial year, the highest annual investment on record. Giles Bristow, chief executive of the Surfers Against Sewage charity, described it as "a small first step of what will be a very long road to recovery". He said: "This is a signal that the water industry is at last, perhaps, waking up to the sheer scale and extent of the sewage scandal and the chronic state of our water system in the UK." | someuwin

23/1/2024 20:52 | Hi Catabrit. Thx for the heads up on that. I had a listen. Comments:- 1. If you're in the industry it's high level CEO speak. He avoids saying anything controversial. If you're not its a good overview. It made me smile knowing I took the right decision in getting away from main contracting. 2. The industry has been talking the same issues for at least 30 years. He thinks it's got better in that time, I'm not so sure really - in some partnering areas maybe yes. but it's a lot less fun. 3. I got interested when they were talking about 30% productivity savings being achievable but then it petered out on planning, standardisation and off site manufacture-not new. Actual works processes not discussed, but I guess beyond the scope in the time available. 4. Obviously dodged commenting re why HS2 is fubar. Rs | roguemale1
23/1/2024 12:14 | It is worth listening to the latest podcast episode by RICS with Alex Vaughan. You can find it on spotify. Gives a good overview of the UK infrastructure industry. | catabrit
22/1/2024 20:47 | 1/3 volume today on the UT well above the afternoon level. Looks good to me. | roguemale1
20/1/2024 21:11 | Yeah, market weakness and this drops 5 per cent. But that's normal for shares that have done well.I think this just needs time, the biggest risk here is not the company's peformance, its the market's. With decent markets this should be 30 to 40% higher by year end. | pinemartin9
20/1/2024 10:43 | Looking forward hopefully within this year seeing Costain in 3 digits and over the 100p mark. Been a long wait, but have confidence that the rerating is gradually taking place. | ttny2004
18/1/2024 09:19 | Solid figures from Kier and Galliford this week. Not quite same but hopefully should reassure the market for the sector a bit... | roguemale1
13/1/2024 20:47 | Don't forget Helen Willis Sophia-she's only taken the freebies.... | roguemale1
13/1/2024 17:47 | Things seem to be moving in the right direction, and I am happy about that. But let us not forget that some of us have bought shares at 60p at the 2020 capital raise. Much more remains to be done and I would like Alex Vaughan to be more proactive and signal his own conviction to the market by buying shares. If I am not wrong, he only owns 250K shares (I don't count the options, etc). | sophia1982 |
