I am certainly not suggesting that anyone us past it at a certain age & I am probably closer to his age than yours & still work a 12 hour + day !I believe that whatever his early plan was appeared to be happening when ,4/5 years ago our share price reached & exceeded 20p & the disasters since then will have greatly irritated him & perfectly reasonable for him to now engineer an exit ,maximising his potential return (& ours).I appreciated he referred to a business review once this deal is done but I doubt whether he will have the appetite to rebuild a plastics business at this stage in his life ,with no guarantees of success ,when he could exit with ,perhaps £1-£1.5mill ,which is substantially more than our value before the deal of about £250k .Possibility if a decent business could be found to reverse in he maybe tempted to remain as non exec Chairman .As ever IMO & I should emphasise that I am delighted to now have the prospects of an exit giving me a modest return over my years in investment here -but it won’t go down as one of my best investments ,although buying more under 5p should show a decent return

base7, I would say he made a number of short term businesses decisions that turned out to be wrong and detrimental to the the growth of the business at that time, including a certain number of appointments of employees.

He also has made a number of good moves, with bolt on businesses plus others like the re-cycling plant, and now the latest deal is a striking one.

I think he may well have taken his finger of the pulse to early before but when he takes the driving seat, he is very effective.

My point was because he was mid-seventies does not mean he is not compos mentis, as you early post seemed to suggest, as you seem to advocate that anyone over that age should hang up there boots and slip away into the sunset.

Not So - I for one am please to be alive and kicking.😊28077;

I have fairly large holding & am delighted at the recent disposal & subsequent doubling in our share price I am not sure how any longer term investor here could possibly consider that JGs investment record has been positive in respect of CRU.
In 2016 our share price was consistently over 20p & we are now discussing the possibility of our exit achieving 20p-so I am unsure how that could viewed to be a good outcome after 5 years.I appreciate that recent investors buying at 4-5p should achieve an excellent return.

base7, mid 70's is a bit young to write off someone's life enjoyment -if that is what it is to JG.

The job is not exactly taxing if you have your wits about you. It is hardly hard labour and as long as he has not started to suffer from alzheimer's disease - which judging by the last RNS is not something that is even the slightest bit likely. In fact I would venture to suggest he retains the brain of a smart cookie and a savant.

JGs record so far has been poor following 2/3 disasters & I am sure he will soon have no further involvement in CRU or any other public company & enjoy his well desrerved retirement as a chap approaching his mid 70s

I am sure JG is supervising the orderly liquidation of the company primarily for himself, colleagues & pals who invested & the rest of us are an inadvertent by product.I believe that 20p is achievable , depending on the price achieved for our 3 remaining assets & that excludes 1-2p for our then being a clean quoted shell, should anyone want to reverse into us , which could provide us with a continuing interest ( if we want it ) in whatever Newco may be doiing.

woops........15p+ should be achievable and possibly 20p.it is obvious Mr Grimmond is doing an excellent job to the benefit of all shareholders and for this we should all be greatful towards him! it is highly unlikely Coral is considering to re-invest funds in acquisitions, and accordingly we are rather likely to see further disposals in a not too distant future. my guestimate is another 10p should come from the remaining operating entities, plus a further 4p from the property. so, again, 15-20p should be the eventual outcome and should not take very long to see this happen.

I stand corrected Aleman - my apologies for my error but you have to admit it makes CRU even more valuable than has been suggested by temelco.

Clocktower - you've quoted the 7-month figures. Presumably the full-year figures will be correspondingly higher, so hopefully more than £1m pretax per year for the pair.

With only one MM left on offer temelco, it is clear that others are at last starting to see the value in CRU. 😊

So maybe £4-5m each. So an easy 20p on breakup. Or maybe a cash shell type acquisition

temelco - How many times Profits would you expect the businesses to be valued at?

Tatra-Rotalac Ltd

£3.30 Sales

£0.34 Pre-Tax profits

£1.70 Net Assets

Global One-Pak Ltd

£2.10 Sales

£0.45 Pre-Tax Profits

£0.90 Net Assets

Clearly a huge buyer but how much they will pay to pick up all the stock they clearly must want is what is going to be interesting.

Maybe an offer is coming for the whole show. 20p ?
