17/8/2018 10:26 | PMP - there was an announcement that DHL/UK Mail is to take over Pass My Parcel. | cw2000
17/8/2018 10:12 | I've had thoughts of topping up, even though my holding is down 40%. Has to be one for the long term... | turbocharge
17/8/2018 08:30 | cs44 no worries. Of course this is just my opinion. As massimoj says Tuffnells won't be profitable this year: only time will tell if it can be turned around. If it can't they will shut it down or sell it off. Suspect that Pass My Parcel will simply be shut down. The divi will at best be substantially slashed but more probably stopped but regardless of this we have a large enterprise here: Smiths News is a cash cow and Dawson Media is a tidy niche business. I only got involved here in the low 30's (p) and am thinking about topping up today. Sorry to hear that this hasn't worked out so well for you at this point but there are positives in this situation albeit they will take time to work out. | mitch74
16/8/2018 20:22 | Hi chickenvindaloo, when do you expect the next GetConnected to come out? | jcalinas
16/8/2018 19:08 | TPE recently started a big new contract supplying a well-known hot beverage chain. They just need to hold onto it. If the figures we were told are accurate then it's worth millions a year to the company overall. Volumes do still seem to be dropping even accounting for the quieter summer months. Time will tell. I await the next issue of Get Connected, see if it sheds any light on the quick departure (if true) of Mr Moore. I'm just a lowly warehouse worker so I can only pass on what I see on a daily basis and the little we do get told from higher up. I think I've said before, I cancelled all previous sharesave schemes and didn't even bother with this year's new one. | chickenvindaloo
16/8/2018 18:50 | Well I think that there's a good amount of uncertainty around the company in the short term and markets overwhelmingly favour predicability in the short term. So yes basically. | massimoj
16/8/2018 18:01 | Thanks Massimoj. So you think that the market has completely misread the situation here? | cs44
16/8/2018 17:47 | Tuffnells won't be profitable this year (they've said that already) but there's no reason that with proper management that it can't be in the medium term. Add to that the cash generation of the core business, which allows them to make the investments necessary and I think the future looks pretty good. Oh and in terms of risk you're paying 26p for a business that in a bad year such as this should earn 9p per share, and if they can get a handle on things can earn much more. | massimoj
16/8/2018 17:28 | Thanks for your thoughts Mitch, I hope your optimism proves to be well founded. Do you think that Tuffnells is still profitable? The insider "chickenvindaloo" didn't paint a rosy picture of the management of the business. I own shares in the company but I am considering taking a hefty loss and hence the interest in other people's thoughts. | cs44
16/8/2018 17:03 | Administration?! With the greatest respect how? They've got 2 businesses that are profitable and 2 businesses that are not. The 2 businesses which are not profitable will be restructured etc. or shut down. Of course this is not without risk but there is value here if management properly get a grip on the company. Aberforth are a very serious bunch of value investors: take from that what you will but IMHO there are reasons to be bullish here in the medium to long term. | mitch74
16/8/2018 14:45 | I hope that I'm wrong but the market, via the share price, is suggesting that this company is heading for administration. I see that Aberforth has been adding and now own a fair chunk, perhaps they can see value here. Any thoughts? | cs44
09/8/2018 17:49 | That’s the word on the street is the other guy still coming despite the baggage | ls24
09/8/2018 12:37 | Word is he has already resigned from tuffnells | scotslass76
09/8/2018 12:17 | LinkedIn still shows Carl Moore as Operations Director / Executive Advisor at TNT although there is the following comment by Carl on his profile page... "Congratulations to the whole team at Leighton Buzzard depot, a fantastic Gold achievement for Tuffnells" | speedsgh
09/8/2018 11:31 | Carl Moore already gone..... | scotslass76
07/8/2018 11:34 | I cannot believe that they would appoint a CEO with that in his background. WT actual F? | rcturner2
07/8/2018 11:17 | Thanks. Director buy yesterday which is always nice to see | massimoj
03/8/2018 11:47 | I don't think it is the same Carl Moore: your Carl Moore was at Clipper from 2008 coming from Rosebys this Carl Moore was with UK Mail since 2007 | jcalinas
30/7/2018 19:25 | Carl Moore has been at Clipper logistics. So is he at CNCT / Tuffnells now? Can't find an announcement anywhere | massimoj
30/7/2018 18:24 | CV, I'd think you'll meet him (some of you anyway) in the early weeks. Remains to be seen if that continues, in my experience... But it's a good start. On the Opdeweegh front, if there is no other evidence (I imagine they searched all his devices) he is I guess either clean or very very careful. If there is nothing proven and he is likely to be even more careful (true or false), what can you do but let him get on with his life? | edmundshaw
30/7/2018 18:02 | Some quotes from Carl Moore from this month's company newsletter: "Drivers and warehouse colleagues are the beating heart of any parcels business..." "...my job is to make sure that those at the frontline can do their jobs to the absolute best of their ability." "We know there are challenges, but we have a clear strategy to meet these." Carl firmly believes that operational management should be out in the operation, not in head office, so you'll all be meeting him soon!" This is the type of stuff us guys at the sharp end want to hear. Let's hope he can deliver (ha!). | chickenvindaloo
30/7/2018 16:51 | I have been at pains not to sensionalise that issue. My point is that the new CEO has been inactive for 2 years and has a recent cloud over him; the statement regarding Moore leaving UK Mail also suggests a cloud hanging. Those are two very experienced people of the right calibre. My concerns are about the ability of CNCT to recruit more openly, as the two choices made, while appropriate, suggest both had considerable less negotiating power than usually assumed in such appointments. My question is: is that a good thing - they both need to prove themselves to regain former status; or is it a bad thing, both looking for a mere springboard to positions currently unavailable to them, and likely to leave in the short term? | jcalinas
30/7/2018 16:44 | I’m not going to disagree..charges were dropped | rhomboid
30/7/2018 16:12 | I'll go with massi on this one | turbocharge
30/7/2018 16:07 | I spent a lot of today looking into it and I think you have to give him the benefit of the doubt and not jump to instinctive conclusions. Charges were dropped, he cooperated fully and is now suing for defamation. There seems to have been more to the accusation than meets the eye. His experience is excellent and I think he will guide the group back on track. | massimoj |
