No, brum, you're right, packaging is vital for a premium product. No point in looking like an 'own brand' at twice the price. Customers don't tend to read ES magazine before going to the supermarket, I guess. Saving money here could be the kiss of death. (Not seen them for myself up here in Bonny Scotland as yet.)

Interims felt a little bland to me, (but I'm not familiar with the Chairman's style). Whatever, I'm not picking up 'wild excitement' at initial Sparky sales and there is no anticipation of the degree to which a revenue contribution from these sales will offset the need to raise more funds. I'm a bit green on interpretating the financials but I think the company will run out of cash in about six months from these figures... which is now only 3 months away... and the next phase of products hardly seem to be straining at the leash.

Well interims are out, good to see cvl having Waitrose as a customer also It was voted the best tasting and best designed Pomegranate juice in the market in the ES magazine of the Evening Standard in London. I agree about the taste shows you what i know about packaging any views on todays interims

Well done Dave 10/10 for persistence as you have mentioned we await positive news from the interims. I have been loitering in my local sainsburys talking to a pleasent young female who works on the beverage section to try and ascertain more info as you are prob aware still on the end of the isle priced at £2.29 for the 1 litre juice and from what i gather the product will only be their for a limited period and then moved to the fridge section if all goes well.

It would not surprise me if the 250ml acheives much better sales (not sold in sainsburys only selfridges) as the type of product that a parent would pack into a childs lunchbox and with the new ruling that fizzy drinks machines will be withdrawn later in 2006 who knows the potential avenues for this product.

On the downside one thing that does puzzle me though consumers generally purchase a product for the first time because of attractive packaging or the brand awareness sparky brand has neither at the moment. If s/b is to generate
good sales this will need to be addressed and i am sure the very knowledgeable board are working on this..... However it could also be argued that if the launch is a success without the above just imagine how sales could increase.

My 'Robert the Bruce' technique won through. We have feedback:-

FROM: CONIVAL PUBLIC RELATIONS

I am writing to you on behalf of Jeremy Schwartz, Chief Executive of Conival. First of all may I apologise for the delay and the email link on the web site, which has now been changed so that it does the job that it should do.

Omega 3

With regard to the recent press scare about the effects of Omega 3 we contacted an independent expert for his opinion. Dr. Paul Clayton, President of the Forum of Food and Health at the Royal Society of Medicine said: "We know that there is a huge bank of authoritative medical research that demonstrates the benefits of Omega 3 in the area of heart health and we would encourage people to continue to include Omega 3 in their daily diets and not to be deterred by this latest research.

Dr Clayton went on to say: "There are 2 clear reasons why we would urge people not to take this research at face value - this report states that Omega 3's are good for those who have coronary heart disease but not for 'healthy' persons. This is mis-leading, because among the walking 'well', very significant numbers have pre-clinical heart disease and are not aware of it until in many cases the first heart attack occurs."

"In addition to this, we would always recommend that Omega 3 is taken as part of a healthy and balanced diet as opposed to a single "cure-all" intervention and this research has specifically excluded all studies where Omega 3's were combined with other nutrients as part of a total solution to healthy hearts. So this makes the findings neater but less relevant to people who eat food."

Conival plc

I think you wondering also if there was anything we could tell us about the initial uptake of Sparky brand products and the status of the Blenheim range and whether there were any more any more brand launches planned. The company is currently planning to announce its interim results at the end of the month which will hopefully furnish you with some additional information. I'm afraid any additional information regarding future product and brand launches will, more often than not, be commercially or market sensitive.

I hope that is helpful. Please feel free to ask for me on tel: 0870 389 6999 if you have further questions and once again, apologies for the late response to your original questions.

----------------------------------------------
Lets hope the Interims later this month are at least as positive as this note, preferably more so.

Brum78,
After further badgering, had a response, yesterday, from 'JS' apologising for hiccup in web site contact. They were aware of the problem which has now been corrected... freddie@conival.com is now back at his post!

While pointing out that information can only be shared with the broad shareholder base, he did say that his public relations spokesperson would be in touch 'first thing this morning'. I'm still waiting!

Well im sure they will reply Dave, they have to be so careful when putting anything in writing. I was hoping someone might of heard of maybe packaging or labelling being designed think about how many different people are involved in the chain.

It seems like every other day some report suggest that this or that is bad or good for you so one has to be careful as to the source of the information and what they have to gain from putting certain info in the public domain. It was intially the omega products that made me research this company but as you are all aware this is only a minute part of what this company is about. If only one or two of the brands become a major succes it will be good for us shareholders.

Have requested a response from 'JS'... nothing heard. Perhaps they are a bit busy wondering about the impact of the omega3 oils news.. kind of puts the pressure on rapidly launching other products in the proposed range?? At best, we will probably see those who came in at the bottom baling out now.

Keep us informed, look forward to hearing the response from Conival i'm sure there is plenty of work going on behind the scenes. Also on another point the celeb chef has never had a higher profile i'm sure the company will want to be cashing in on this sooner rather than later.

Rings bells now, brum. It was one of a portfolio of about 10 trade names that Conival acquired the rights to use from its parent Corvus was it not?. It was specific to Barrough Hospitality Ltd. I am not aware that Conival has launched any products under any of the names as yet. In fact, the Conival Web site currently states that the Blenheim range will be launched "In the Spring.". An e-mail to freddie@conival.com might provide an update?

Afternoon brum. COLD feet, not itchy, I would suggest! Not a problem long term, imo. Re Blenheim Palace... not seen this up in Scotland. Is this another CVL trademark, or a competitor? Only ref I can find is an RNS report on Investors Chronical... but it appears to be defunct.

Yachtmonster-
Yes i recon it will be about july 14th which is a friday, they will reach 10p. there, money where ones mouth is,so to speak.and why i here you ask? iam going by the chart which seems to be starting from 2p.A four monthly period up to say 5p so another four and you have 10p which gives you july. And 14th because it was about the 14th at its previous high. If they reach 8.5p before then i will sell them.

My sailing, i prefer a rough sea state its mutch more exciting. i found mid summer a bit boreing with little wind if any. my first experience was on a fishing trawler when i first left school age 16. so ive seen the worst. Then first sailed nearly 20 years later in february around I.O.W. gail 8 for most of the week but realy injoyed it. I also passed my day skipper shore based a year ago and now want to take it up profesionaly. Iam fed up with gardening...

Yachtmonster-
Interesting iam dew to start a sailing course on the I.O.W cowes in september a PCST with the UKSA so i was hoping 8.5p end of march to pay for it. But iam not so shure now. If its as late as july/sept its cutting it a bit fine.

dave-w,

I said july 23rds was arbitrary, I really meant 2nd half of July. Just remembered I'll be on my way back from Cork week then so won't be able to check sp's until about 26th, so I'll move my target to then. Just in time to take some profits and blow it all at Cowes week.

So far we've got:-

Majority show as sells i very much doubt it though as quantity of stock seems to have been sold last week to a third party see rns. I wonder who the third party is that is stakebuilding, hopefully cvl are getting into bed with a big hitter.....

I like the way the company seems keen to nuture a brand and with the ceos experience in that field and also bringing together a good team things look positive......
