Anyone still out there and holding?Looks like the uptrend is continuing as there is definitely more interest in this share than there has been for months.

I've never done well out of break-ups. Too much opportunity for cash to disappear into other pockets. I hope it doesn't happen.

Thanks for your reply,Gulliverr.
I read recently of a possible break up of the company. What will that do to the sp?
Whatever,it looks like a long term investment if there is no takeover/break up.

The problem was that their shares were high because they were pursuing an aggressive takeover policy looking for growth through aquisitons. Then they found it was hard to manage their diverse assets and profits weren't what was expected. They adopted an organic growth policy. Huh! Poor bids on some contracts led to losses. Some dodgy dealings by some managers on un contracts hit confidence which is only just returning. I feel the management has been pretty poor but that is hopefully changing with new blood coming in. If they are successful I expect some recovery but impossible to predict level since that will depend on performance.

gulliverr,do you ever expect to see the share price as high as it once was,in the heady days when I bought some shares?Am I stupid to imagine that Compass shares will never go much higher than 400p ever,IF I'm lucky?

Nothing like a little blood-letting to keep staff on their toes.

S.Times, little comment that the new CE, Cousins, is about to wield his chopper! 200 managers to go? Number of catering brands to go? Leaving the news till Nov though apparently.

Perhaps my 'little birdie' was right, managers 'walking' before they're 'pushed'.

Well, it looks like I was wrong and there may be some substance to the bid rumours after all.

Leicester reported a similar pattern throughout its region. Anyway, it is small beer. Compass has been losing money on school contracts for a while now. Not trying to talk it down. I've been a holder( and a loser) for some years.

The 41% drop was in one isolated college in Leicester.

Compass have experienced an average of 20% drop, which, I understand has to be paid for out of education budgets.
Even if a school is throwing away 50% of it's food, Compass, or other suppliers, are still paid for the 100% supplied.

A little birdie tells me quite a few peeps in CPG management are leaving, or looking to leave.

There's no smoke without fire?

I find this talk of a bid strange. I thought it was on at sub 200 but why now?

Healthier school meals!!!!!!
Yet another example of media hysteria. Caterers are saying it will be more expensive to provide healthy options. Good on the mum's who are delivering burgers and chips through the school railings. Whatever happened to free choice? Would you go to a restaurant that only served apples and lettuce?
Poor little kids being starved in the name of political hysteria. (And I can't stand that Jamie Oliver. Or Ramsey.)
