The results may be somewhat better than they seem at first glance.
A closer look at the results suggest that some of the old, exceptional problems have been cleared out.
The cash position is positive, there is no debt, and the company is positioning itself in other potential income areas which could bring benefits in time.

The CEO was granted options earlier in the year which clearly give him every reason to improve trading results, and thereby the share price.

The thieving traders are overpaid and Phipps is to blame for giving them such control.

Any revenue is used to pay their extortionate bonuses.

Profit-taking after the recent rise, general market blues, or what?

Presumably the company should know the date of the interims if they are to be announced in September, as per previous years.

well its been an absolutely fabulous time for commodity traders with both volume and volatility. If the results arent great then they will never be.

One of the healthiest signs you can gain from the market...a sure sign that action is round the corner........when the number of MM's increase virtually overnight....TWO more in 24 hours!

Exactly the same thing happened with one of my other major holdings...SRSP just one week ago.

rise continues - lets see if it can change a proper bullish trend.

Close period
A close period is a period, usually of two months, prior to the release of results during which directors and other insiders are not allowed to trade in a company's shares.

It is also usual for companies to refrain from making other price sensitive announcements (e.g. trading statements) during the close period. This is not required, but it is usually regarded as good practice.

Two larger trades posted just after the close to lift the volume. If directors have been buying we should hear about it pretty soon.

Meantime, the rise seems to have attracted very little by way of comment. Its as if no one has noticed.
Maybe there are not that many pi's involved after several months of quite small volumes and no news or trading updates from the company.

Not really too sure what this is all about...Wasn't there something about directors buying in chunks?

Be interesting to see if any money is reinvested in the business this year. Most would say unlikely.

We've seen a 35-40% rise in the share price in the past 2 days, which is quite encouraging.
Let's hope the trading performance has improved to justify the rise and will be reflected in the next set of figures due next month.

interims 25th sept last year should be around same time..time to see if the operations are benefitting from the revitalised activity in commodities.from finals in march when things were at a low ebb.

Commenting on the Group's outlook, David Phipps, Chief Executive, said:

"Our core LME base metals franchise remains strong and although we anticipate that total LME volumes are likely to be lower in 2009 than last year we believe the changes we have made will enhance and increase revenue flows during the year.

"The acquisition of AMCO will add to our current revenue flows and provide cost savings as well as additional revenue growth as we add additional commodity asset classes to the product portfolio.

"Diversification into other commodity areas will be activated as soon as possible following the creation of the Group's UK regulated entity and initial revenue flows from this area are expected to commence during the final quarter of 2009"

having looked at subsequent lme data volumes have been good

Well, something seems to have done just that.
Trades at around 6p/share, and a 14% rise on the day so far is quite encouraging.

Still very quiet with no news or trading updates of any sort from the company.
Based on previous years we should be getting the interim results in the next
4-6 weeks I guess, certainly before the end of September.
