LONDON (AFX) - Comino Group PLC, a provider of service delivery solutions for Local Government, Social Housing and Occupational Pensions, said discussions it had been carrying out after receiving a possible bid approach in September have now been terminated. The company also revealed its first half results today which showed an increase in underlying profits and a rise in the interim dividend to 2.5 pence from 2.2 pence a year earlier. In his chairman's report, David Quysner said the outlook is encouraging. He said Local Government market continues to provide opportunities for growth and Social Housing is benefiting from a new approach that emphasises the service delivery aspects of the product. "Comino remains well placed to take advantage of these major opportunities." The profit before tax, goodwill and exceptionals in the first half was up 42 pct to 1.14 mln stg from 804,000 stg on turnover up 8 pct to 12.2 mln stg from 11.3 mln. Pretax profit after goodwill and exceptional items was 560,000 stg, down from 603,000 stg. The exceptional item of 407,000 stg represented the net cost to the company of litigation which is now fully resolved. Gross profit margin maintained at 80 pct. | johnroger | |
