(Sharecast News) - Soft drinks maker Coca-Cola raised its full-year revenue guidance on Wednesday amid a rebound in demand thanks to a reopening US economy.
Coca-Cola said organic revenue grew 37% in the three months ended 2 July, ahead of analysts' expectations for 29.3% growth, while earnings of $0.68 per share also topped expectations for a print of $0.56 each.

The AGM approved a dividend of EUR 0.64 per share ("Dividend") out of the general capital contribution reserve, capped at an amount of CHF 300,000,000.

Payment of the full amount of the Dividend will be made on 3 August 2021 to holders of ordinary shares on the record date of 9 July 2021.

The shares are expected to be traded ex-dividend as of 8 July 2021, in which case the last day on which the shares may be traded with the entitlement to receive dividends will be 7 July 2021.

In addition, the AGM approved a share buy back of up to up to 10,000,000 ordinary shares with a par value of CHF 6.70.

Market report:

The FTSE 100 index crept up 0.1 per cent, or 4.36 points, to 6,528.72, kept going by bottling company Coca-Cola HBC.

The firm said its bottling volumes were improving in the second half of last year as it adapted to changing customer behaviour.

The pandemic has caused a rise in demand for at-home drinks, but has stunted sales of bottles sold in bars and pubs. Despite its 'agility', revenue was down 12.7 per cent to £5.4billion, and profits fell 14.9 per cent to £364million.

But this was better than expected, and shares climbed 4.7 per cent, or 105p, to 2365p.

Soft drinks bottler Coca-Cola HBC posted a 13% fall in net sales revenue in 2020 to EUR6.13 billion from EUR7.03 billion.

According to the market consensus cited by Vuma, total reported revenue was expected to fall by 12% in 2020 to EUR6.15 billion. Annual pretax profit was 10% lower at EUR593.9 million from EUR661.2 million.

But the bottler edged its payout 3.2% higher to EUR0.64, with consensus forecasts tipping a 16% cut to EUR0.52. Unit cases fell 5.7% annually, demonstrating how badly volumes were hit by Covid-19 lockdowns. However, a slightly greater fall of 6.0% was expected.
