Premier now says it was not very successful and BP have declined to comment. All very odd considering the tight hole status before Christmas and the length of time the drill took. Surprising they didn't say something sooner and BP are still not saying anything.

The are both temporary and permanent abandonments, this well was and possibly still is on 'tight status' they still don't seem to be giving much away.

Strange that Premier just say Ravenspurn plugged and abandoned without any qualification, I don't know what to make of that!

Good morning all

Large share price fall 11%+ today so far. No reason that I can see. Impatient PIs?

So many of the majors have an emphasis on gas not oil, they are modifying their business model. This includes BP getting back into solar. Ultimately we should do something like that. When I spoke to Algy at the AGM about it, he quite rightly wanted to focus on the current strategy for the moment.

I agree. I think it was a wise move to concentrate on the southern North Sea.

Anything to do with coal these days which is non essential is a liability, environmentally and strategically, we're better off out of it!

Remember the Scottish ban - now Ineos is going to challenge in court the ban on fracking announced by the Scottish government.............I wonder if CLNR will be stirred into getting back their oofshore licenses?

I've been accumulating again Friday and today as I feel the upward momentum seems more solid now and therefore I don't expect it to retrace towards 2.5p as I had originally thought. I now have 703,934 shares at an average around 2.93/4. I don't have to do it, but my trades were as follows( in case of doubters!). Good luck to all.

4 Jan 16.20 50,000 @2.9
5 Jan 08.56 50,000 @2.95
5 Jan 09.13 250,000 @2.895

I suspect there will be some predetermination in the awarding of licences and to whom.

If you study a detailed map of the area in which CLNR has its blocks you have Centrica and Ineos then BP, Fareo Petroleum and Premier Oil all very close by.

The area is well served by under sea pipes etc but there are two obvious candidates - INEOS and the new CENTRICA (BGas) business with its German partner and they need gas like I need a gin and tonic before my supper each evening.

BUT no one is talking to anyone until the next round of licenses have been alloted and that is Q2 (MAY 2018).........that does NOT stop Cluff in the meantime from finding a partner and remember that his current licenses expire in May 2018 and cash for running the business will as well.

Cluff and his friends now control over 40% of the votes so there is quite a large pool of private punters - day traders in some cases and others who have held shares for a few years........so its all brewing up for something to happen in JAN/FEB and my bet is FEBRUARY as the City is not quite back to work.......

We shall wait and see.............there is more to this story than meets the eye!!

sentiment towards resource stocks is giving a bid, even at the small cap end-maybe refects the price rises in commodities in recent weeks

It can only help

I point to Allenby's valuation which in many ways is a good example on how exploration gas companies are valued. So in a way that is a good starting point even if you tend to dislike brokers as I do - with exceptions.

I will soon have a better handle on just what has to happen and when by the end of this week as the time table is quite short and the share price could be all over the place as rumours gather............we shall see.

I take little notice of brokers and their targets. The market is weighted towards the right people making lots of cash.spencer and the other investor are here for something ,we are involved with a commodity that will be more and more in demand and we are right smack bang in the middle of it.sp will find its value and as long as its a good bit more than I paid I dont much care about the finer details .

That is an interesting thought BRONISLAV and I do hope you are right but BP seem not to be interested in publishing any news on their block, which as we all know is close to the CLNR area.

At 6p the market cap will be some £24m and at Allenby valuation NOW reduced to 10p that will be £40m. So are you sure your figures are able to stake-up?

It may well be that there is a leak from the bp drill tests or just a leak on the details on a deal.Algy would prefer the BP results first before agreeing a deal.Chart looks similar to the last major rise when we touched the sixes.Six pence before deal announcment would be excellent and then there is the added sweetener of the bid round.
