22/10/2008 07:49 | A good trading update dressed as a profit warning IMO. Looks to be trading on a PE below 3. | deswalker
22/10/2008 07:07 | I wonder if this statement is a cunning plan by Knox to try and get more stock, nothing wrong with that statement in this market but strange he's buying non stop ahead of todays news. | 8trader
22/10/2008 07:05 | RNS Number : 3721G Clipper Ventures PLC 22 October 2008 Clipper Ventures PLC 22 October 2008 Clipper Ventures PLC ('Clipper Ventures' or the 'Company') Trading update Clipper Ventures today announces that in light of the near certainty of a global recession the Board of has downgraded its profit forecasts to match those of its last financial year (Year ended 30th April 2008). The Velux 5 Oceans Race for 2010 has secured its title sponsor and is delivering income in line with expectations. Income relating the 2009 Clipper Round the World Race is in line with the previous race and as a result the organisation is not expecting to show the profit growth previously anticipated. Given the broad economic uncertainties, the Board has decided it would be prudent to adopt a policy of preserving as much cash in the business as is possible. With this in mind it is the intention to temporarily suspend any dividend payments until such time as it becomes financially prudent to recommence the payment of dividends. | 8trader
21/10/2008 21:48 | I've just been looking at a stock on the leaders board that has shot up on the back on some smallish director buying. What's quite silly here is the lack of price reaction to the buying by Knox, we are not talking pennies here, 100k at 8p, 2 mil at 9.25p, 250k at 8.5p and 450k at close to 9p in a month. I make that roughly £250k he has spent, much more than all the diector buying in a mid cap that jumps well over 20% on the news, it's a huge amount for a stock so small. This cant stay off the radar forever. | 8trader
21/10/2008 15:28 | He was always going to buy more when he bought millions earlier at 9.25p Eggbird when the offer was just 8p ! I think he will continue to lap up large amounts of stock right upto 30% before trying his luck with a bid. Totally off the radar, when do you see such aggressive large scale buying by a director and another big holder have so little effect on the price and pi volumes, in the old days you would have 500k volume on this news and today is 18k, our day will come with this stock mark my words. Knox did the race recently at the grand old age of 68 ! | 8trader
21/10/2008 14:10 | You can sell 75k on line at 8.75p yet only buy 15k 3 v 3 on L2 | love it
21/10/2008 13:49 | Yes I noticed that. Did you see the item on the national news about Hull NHS thinking about buying a racing yacht for £500k to encourage youngsters to broaden their horizons ? All a little bit touchy-feely to me but they say it's on the back of the maturity seen in the youngsters on the Hull boat in the Clipper Race. Most have gone into the workplace with much more maturity and responsibility, and the Hull & Humber captain from the race was in town to support it. Well, I'm hoping & guessing that CLV are behind this initiative and might possibly get to run it day-to-day if it takes off. If it gets the go-ahead (and there is much opposition) then it could turn into a nice business for somebody (hopefully CLV) with the NHS as a rock-solid client and could then roll out into cities around the country. Equally, perhaps we could do a deal on one of our spare yachts etc etc Des | deswalker
21/10/2008 13:00 | The Chairman has added 2.8m shares at a cost of just over £0.25m since September in order to acquire an additional 7.2% of the company. | scburbs
21/10/2008 12:49 | Yet more shares being bought by the Chairman! Not surprising the directors are filling their boots at these levels, the confidence is certainly pleasing to see for those of us sitting on an unrealised loss. | scburbs
21/10/2008 12:34 | Very nice Director Buy! RNS Number : 3417G Clipper Ventures PLC 21 October 2008 Clipper Ventures PLC 21 October 2008 Clipper Ventures PLC ('Clipper Ventures' or the 'Company') Directors Dealings Clipper Ventures Plc (AIM: CLV), was notified on 20 October 2008 that Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, Chairman of the Company, purchased 450,000 Ordinary Shares in the Company on 20 October 2008 at a price of 8.875 pence per share. 20/10/2008 15:47 | Managed a 10k top up which is the online limit. Feel pretty safe in this one with 2 different parties after large blocks. And there's not much cheaper on fundies out there, 3 mil maret cap with 1 mil cash and profits of 1 mil a year, even if they dipped on sponsership cutbacks they remain a bargain just like many others out there. | 8trader
20/10/2008 15:43 | You cant get any stock online TY, there is huge buy orders always in place, convinced this they will mop up before launching a bid. | 8trader
20/10/2008 08:37 | Has the buying started again ? 450k bought at 8.875p this morning, | tyranosaurus
06/10/2008 19:22 | More sustained buying by 2 different parties ! It's like a competition to try and get a big a stake as possible on the cheap, if the person who is supplying them with the stock runs out then this will probably go a bit like most stocks do when large sellers get cleared out. | 8trader
06/10/2008 13:20 | Have these people got a bottomless pit of money ? They seem to be relentlessly buying. It would be nice to know who is selling these in the first place. | tyranosaurus
06/10/2008 10:01 | David Barry and Robin Knox-J buying today. | deswalker
02/10/2008 08:15 | And it's Hoods who have been on the bid and gradually upping the bid for many weeks now so the price seems to have solid support if unspectacular moves but they are upward ones in a falling market so that will be taken as a bonus. | 8trader
01/10/2008 15:48 | Stakebuilding galore going on, lots of block trades changing hands so somebody must be selling but no sign of a rns stating who ? Everybody seems to be adding. | 8trader
01/10/2008 15:33 | Thanks TY, i was hoping somebody would tell the thread :-)) | 8trader
01/10/2008 12:01 | I reckon Barry has added another 400k shares since his last shareholding was notified. | tyranosaurus
23/9/2008 22:39 | Whatever you wish ! You have a big chip on your shoulder. market maker2 - 23 Sep'08 - 22:19 - 28 of 28 (premium) (Filtered) | 8trader
23/9/2008 22:19 | 8t what a complete liar, and considering u set me and loads more on ignored u can still read this this guy is not to be trusted, he ramps and deramps like the wind !!!!!!!!!!!!! | market maker2
23/9/2008 22:06 | Are you ok MM ? Like i said before i would hate to see a real "dreggs" company when you think this is, a 3 mil pound company making 1 mil a year with no debt and 1 mil cash. Now i last spoke to you on the HLL thread and warned you about the debt conversion, i see they have lost over 75% of their value since then, is this what this is about ? Punters will always do their own research, i'm just interested to why not one but 2 seperate parties have bought or increase their stakes by a substantial amount at premiums to the market price. | 8trader
23/9/2008 21:50 | Be careful the market will not wake up here. directors buying made jack sh*t With Credit crunch happening who is bothered with dreggs like this ??? Oh yeah dont trust 8T he's a complete prat!!!!!!!!!!! | market maker2 |
