I must admit I sold a few myself recently to make way for other positions but looking good for a buy back and 15% more shares for the same cash.

U.K. Logistics Firm Clipper Attracts Private Equity Interest

Clipper Logistics Plc is attracting interest from buyout firms as the British company benefits from the rise in online shopping, people with knowledge of the matter said.

Cinven is among private equity firms that have been evaluating the Leeds-based company, according to the people, who asked not to be identified because the information is private. Other potential suitors including CVC Capital Partners have also in the past looked at the firm, the people said.

Shares of Clipper rose as much as 9.8% in London on Wednesday, giving the retail logistics specialist a market value of 496 million pounds ($640 million). Deliberations are ongoing, and there’s no certainty they will result in formal bids, the people said.

Representatives for Cinven, Clipper and CVC declined to comment.

The coronavirus crisis has created rising e-commerce demand, with customers stuck indoors ordering everything from food delivery to clothing and items for home improvement. Clipper operates a fleet of more than 470 vehicles and counts U.K. retailers including Asda, John Lewis Plc and Marks & Spencer Group Plc among its clients.

In April, the company was awarded a contract to help establish a supply chain for delivering personal protective equipment to the U.K.’s National Health Service as Covid-19 hospitalizations began to rise.

The company’s biggest shareholder is executive chairman and founder Steve Parkin, who owns about a 25% stake, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.

just bought in here, but really dont understand the spread.
most of the day its been 3-4% showing up 3pts to up 19.5pts.
the spread changes to 0.3 % up 12pts and the price is higher !!!!
the change is now up 19 but the bid offer prices have not changed.
Odd as there is plenty of stock to buy and sell.
Any pointers anyone ??

Good results as anticipated.
More importantly 2021 outlook already forecast to exceed market expectations, with e-commerce the big driver and only going to get bigger.
Cracking long term hold.

Albert, nope, I won't be jumping. I still like this as a long term growth/income play. Clipper are used by many online retailers and I don't see online retail doing anything but growing. There have been some bumps in the road over the past couple of years, but overall I'm happy to keep CLG in the portfolio. It's about 1.5% of the stash and I'm comfortable with that.

Since about half my holding was bought when the price was over £4, it's good to see that price point approached again. Fingers crossed this rally continues.

Hopefully the share price continues with this momentum until results are announced & we can get to £4+ . Fingers crossed with a few further contracts announcements post FY results as retailers further outsource we’ll see £4.50+!

Clipper are earning a good bit delivering to NHS with protective wear so I have heard.But they will have taken a hit losing M AND CO.

Having quizzed my local DPD driver about how busy he is at present he tells me they have increased the amount of drivers during lockdown by 50% - 'just like Christmas' in his words.

This tends to suggest that Clipper should be seeing some increases in activity also given their client list.
