lindowcross I got into CPC because of the great job they did with Capital Pub. Covid lockdown and subsequent price drop hurt like hell. Will keep the faith.

Ditchsid, "You must have been in City pub since the EIS days" if you referring to me? Then no, I was not clever enough to do the EIS, although I do remember reading about it. My first purchase in CPC was November 2017 at a whopping £1.79p Well done to you for getting in that early!

Issue atm, staffing costs - over 200,000 vacancies in hospitality at present.

See what they have to say on costs shortly.

You must have been in City pub since the EIS days. I bought at £1 and £1.20 and HMRC knocked 30% of that off my tax bill. Very nice.

Thanks for the clarification. I agree that CPC would be an excellent buy for a bigger group as they own a great selection of quality pubs and venues.

The team currently running City Pub, earlier ran the Capital Pub company, which Greene King took over in 2011, paying circa £2.35p per share. Above I'm responding to Ditchsid who cited Capital Pub as support for the notion that City will be bought out at some point.

From my point of view City Pub has a much greater chance of being taken over than, say, Youngs or Fullers, because the management team with signficant stakes have a track record of being receptive to take overs and do not have the weight of tradition and longevity hanging over them as with the much larger independent groups. £2.80 per share for City Pub would be small change for some of the big, international brewers and they can pick up a tasty portfolio of well-run pubs. I've just topped up today on City.

Is that the same share or is that general pub share chat? The City Pub Group IPO was in November 2017.

Correct, I did have a modest holding in Capital and I believe this business is being built for sale at some point. What Melrose is to engineers, CPC is to pubs.

I think lindowcross can remember Capital Pub. And other projects by the same team.

what makes you think they will be bought out?

When someone takes this company over they'll have to pay north of £2.00, so I'm sitting on my shares bought in tranches ranging in price from 2.14 in July 2019 to .45p in March 2020 waiting for the offer to come in.

Pubs, restaurants and hotels in general are very busy so I assume the same for CPC pubs as they are quality establishments.
