16/4/2019 11:39 | 'Berenberg predicts re-rating at Cineworld' Cineworld (CINE) shares could re-rate if the cinema group continues to hit earnings estimates and deleverage, says Berenberg. Analyst Owen Shirley retained his ‘buy’ recommendation and target price of 360p on the shares, which rose 1.2% to 311.7p yesterday. ‘Despite being up by c.15% year-to-date, Cineworld still trades at just 7.8 times 2019 enterprise value/earnings, with a 10% free cashflow yield,’ he said. ‘In six months’ time, attention will likely have turned to 2020 multiples. We think that with continued good news, the shares could quite plausibly re-rate to nine times 2020 enterprise value/ earnings by then, with lower net debt. That would put the shares at 410p, 35% higher than current levels.’ | philanderer

12/4/2019 09:48 | 'Jefferies hikes Cineworld target on more cost savings' Jefferies has hiked its price target on Cineworld (CINE), believing the group can extract further cost savings from its blockbuster £2.7 billion acquisition of US cinema chain Regal. Analyst James Wheatcroft maintained his ‘buy’ rating on the shares and raised his price target from 390p to 445p. The shares were trading at 298.7p yesterday. ‘We think there is still some scope on cost synergies as the benefit from online booking has not yet fully played out,’ he said. ‘Any further good news around estimates would reduce the net debt to earnings ratio more quickly, thus addressing a key area of investor push-back.’ He said that while Cineworld had delivered ‘episode one’ of its development through synergies from the Regal deal, further improvements could follow. ‘The next two episodes focus on film admissions gathering momentum through 2019 after a slow start, followed by a rerating to reflect a greater understanding of the future growth from refurbishments,&rsqu | philanderer

15/3/2019 10:19 | Cineworld is cheap, says Numis Shares in Cineworld (CINE) are ‘inexpensive&r Analyst Richard Stuber retained his ‘buy’ recommendation and target price of 421p on the shares, which rose 3.8% to 300p yesterday. Cineworld reported revenue growth of 7.2% in 2018 and trading for this year remains in line with expectations. However, Stuber said the ‘US industry box office was 27% lower in January and February’ due to tough comparators but 2019 still has the ability to be a record year. ‘Trading on full-year 2019 12.4 [times earnings], the shares are inexpensive and remain a key long-term holding,’ he said. | philanderer

05/3/2019 12:22 | Government Petition to Ban shorting of London AIM stocks. The AIM stock market is where smaller companies list their shares rather than using the prohibitively expensive main London Stock Market. This is an important market for the growth of smaller UK companies. In challenging times, shorters seek to borrow the company's shares from a holder for a consideration and to buy them at a later date. They immediately sell these shares which, due to the relative illiquid market, sends the price much lower and hence the shorters can buy them at that lower price - pocketing the difference. The only beneficiaries are the shorters and the market makers with the losers being the reputable company and it's bona fide investors. | wattene

26/2/2019 10:15 | 'Cineworld feeling Netflix competition, says Peel Hunt' Cineworld (CINE) is expected to meet 2018 expectations but Peel Hunt has warned about the increasingly competitive film market. Analyst Douglas Jack retained his ‘add’ recommendation and target price for 320p on the shares, which rose two-and-a-half pennies to 280p yesterday. With Netflix production Roma winning three Oscars, Jack said ‘we believe price competition in the 2D market, against a backdrop of rising demand for home streaming, is a greater issue in the cinema market than efforts to reduce the theatre window (how long films play for in a cinema)’. ‘Competition from home streaming is only increasing, due to more content, improving audio-visual, more home food delivery options and convenience,’ he said. ‘Against this backdrop, the scope to continue raising like-for-like ticket prices may be on the wane.’ | philanderer

17/2/2019 17:29 | john, no it doesn't . I was hoping to go to Picturehouse Central (which Cineworld does own) and is my favourite London cinema but the timing didn't fit so we had to walk up Shaftesbury Avenue to the Curzon. | philanderer |
