Very strange indeed raggedglory. I like this company slightly boring but well managed. An excellent CEO with track record. A first rate long term hold but surely we will pause for breath soon.

It is very difficult to assess just exactly what has caused this rise in the share price At the time of the last Management Update (Feb) the price was 184p and did, as a matter of fact, fall lower thereafter.

I felt that management gave very little away at that point but on the other hand there was nothing untoward with the content of the statement.

There has now, since that date, been a virtual 20% increase in share price which, in part could be offset by a 12% rise in the F250 during the same period. Perhaps the other 8% can be argued in the light that CHLD was undervalued anyway. The last time the share price stood at these levels was during the Emmerson offer.

So is there any justification in assuming that good news is on the agenda tomorrow or, will a statement, on similar lines to the last one, have a calming effect on the current move north.

Statements such as 'in line with management expectations' are all very well if you know for sure just what those 'expectations' are, i.e positive/negative.

Good luck all for tomorrow.

Regards PF

Useful profile of CHLD in Sunday Times Business section yesterday. All to the good.

I suspect some did take profits, not a good move, some will be looking to buy back in on the next dip I think.

It has been a very strong surge, I hope there is lots of surprising good news, but i think the surge is in part due to an oversold situation in late Feb. I saw other similar stocks (by similar I mean fundamentaly sound), do the same thing. Also the whole thing has co-incided with a strong index generally which has added momentum for stocks which benefit from economic growth.

I cannot see myself selling these for sometime, but I know some will trade this with a shorter timespan in sight.

Roger that, Thorpe, I was beginning to think that all the 'longs' had incautiously got out at 190. Still, it's been a very strong run up to the TU - not the CHLD style at all. Let's hope there's some good news coming down the line.

Think we're all still here, but relaxed - safe in our confidence that we have a good stock.

I Still think we're in for a slow but sure rise in the price, a bit bumpy and within the trend (so a small re-trace is perhaps now due).

Trading update is of course due next week but if I know CHLD it won't be anything earth shattering... just more nice and steady (nothing wrong with that).

Where is everyone? The current momentum is taking us close to the 08 pre-bid lift-off - these are very interesting times for CHLD! If only my other companies were performing like this...

Perhaps volatile is not quite the right term. What I mean to say is that it is likely we will fall back fairly significantly shortly.

I do believe that the general uptrend will continue however.

think I'd have to disagree on the volatile view thorpematt.....i think it moves about very modestly....no large moves up or down....3% either way is extreme for chld

It is a nice one to own at the mo that's for sure. I have noted that it's volatile tho' - so I expect more zig zagging is due shortly...
