19/11/2017 09:20 | just got back from Leicester, been watching Manchester City. The pace is what makes them special. This young group could be around and improving for the next 10 years and imports of new faces could see them dominate for the foreseeable future. probably the best team in Europe, after also watching ATH MADRID V REAL MADRID, who don't look as good. | stephen1946
18/11/2017 21:58 | Man of the match - Ruben Loftus-Cheek Why they sent him out on loan is beyond me. | michaelsadvfn

09/11/2017 11:26 | Jack ..my grandad told me about the days going to see George Best Boxing Day shed end Chelsea v Fulham, full house 60000 in dem good ole days I heard | ny boy
09/11/2017 10:43 | Agreed - and even though gates did fall to 6,000 on the odd occasion the reality is that like West Ham and now Spurs, there are many many thousands that have always supported the club even if they did not hand their money over at the turnstiles And I don't mean in the way a liverpudlian would read that comment | joe say
09/11/2017 10:28 | The main advantage of being in division two was that you just turned up on the day. The main consideration being how big a Friday night you'd had. Happy days. | bionicdog
09/11/2017 08:23 | Great memories but as someone of a similar age I can honestly say the way its panned out is even better - we've simply got better and better as a team, but we all have those special memories when times were different Something the scousers or gooners would never understand | joe say
09/11/2017 08:09 | And who can ever forget big Micky Droy? His younger brother, Alan, was a prefect when I started at my secondary school in Islington in the early 70's. | tommo41
09/11/2017 08:07 | I can think of loads. Starting with the late, great Peter Houseman. Battersea born and bred, just like the afore-mentioned Alan Hudson. Ray Wilkins was another, plus his brother, Graham. Then there were less illustrious players like Steve Wicks, Gary Locke, Colin Pates, John Bumstead, Kevin Hales, Mike Fillery, John Sparrow...to name a few. The period between 1972 and the early nineties was, bar a couple of promotions, a very barren time, when we were staffed by mainly mediocre English and Scottish players. I remember going to the old Wembley in 1985 to watch Chelsea beat Man City to win the Full Members Cup. Now, that really was a Micky Mouse cup. Think both sets of fans that day never dreamed of where they'd eventually end up....winning cups, titles and regular European football. The Chelsea fans of today don't realise just how good they've got it. I remember being on leave from the Army in the early 80's and sitting in the upper tier of the east stand. We were playing Cardiff City in the old Division Two and it was a wet, cold Wednesday night. The crowd was less than 6,000, including about 50 Cardiff supporters in the old, open North End. Those were the days......not! | tommo41
08/11/2017 16:28 | Alan Hudson | robo15
08/11/2017 16:25 | Maybe not coming through our ranks to play for us - but we're feeding loads of other clubs But in any event its hardly held us back now has it? And Tommo is bang on imo | joe say
08/11/2017 14:19 | OG Kush king perhaps. How he ever became player of the year is anyone's guess, he wouldn't get anywhere near any of the junior sides these days. | michaelsadvfn
08/11/2017 14:14 | The og king? | jack jebb
08/11/2017 14:03 | Frank Sinclair ? | michaelsadvfn
08/11/2017 13:32 | No one will never know, Chelsea is more secretive than the Kremlin. I was talking to a couple of Chelsea mates in the pub last night, and we were struggling to recall a home grown player since the obvious left. We settled on Osgood, but there must have been one between PO and JT? | jack jebb
08/11/2017 12:39 | Sorry, don't buy the spin coming out of the club about Emenalo's departure. This problem has existed for some time and I believe it's been building to a crescendo from the start of this season as more began to question the lack of player recruitment and the amount of players out on loan at the same time as Conte was bemoaning the depth of his squad. Emenalo has had an unhealthy and bizarrely inexplicable influence at the club, especially over Abramovich, it would seem. Probably more responsible than most for players like De Bruyne, Lukaku and Salah being loaned out again and again until they obviously felt that they weren't in the club's long term plans and eventually jumped ship. At the same time dross like Obi Mikel were allowed to hang around for far too long. What's become of that useless lump by the way? I haven't read many reports about him setting the Chinese Super League alight. My take on this is that others at the club have put a bit of pressure on Abramovich to finally see the light over Emenalo. I honestly can't see Conte being upset that he's gone. And I can't honestly see Emenalo having been too bothered about Conte staying or going, contrary to the reports. After all, he was happy to remain in his exalted, superfluous position as he watched the departing backs of Grant, Scolari, Ancelloti, Villas Boas, Di Matteo, Benitez and Mourinho second time around. This time, perhaps, Conte was too strong for him. Good riddance, I say. | tommo41
07/11/2017 18:17 | We should hang on to Conte ,,,,, COYMB ! | ccr1958 |
