24/10/2012 07:19 | expected something today but what do I know. still think getting rid of ceo without explanation mighty odd and not usual practice. the story will come out in time I am sure. Very surprised at how tight the news blackout on this. not a peep. stockmarket very boring at minute, I miss the crisis days when you could actually take a punt. now very little movement zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz | ards
24/10/2012 06:23 | As part of the due diligence both parties would have to be aware that a new CEO was being recruited because it takes time. The shareholders wamted the resignation and it would be diffuicult for the new CEO not to take the position if he was already semi committed at the time of the bid announcement. Issue is whether appointment has the blessing of Carlyle or not as they mayoy have anyone better to assist in whatever reorganisation they ppaln. Chemring is in play ireespecti9ve oif Carlyle and the business still has to be managed. Suggest this gives a stronger negotiating position in any event. | zipstuck
23/10/2012 15:16 | Its the donkey blaming the horse. Very typical CITY. | hvs
23/10/2012 15:14 | ards - aha yes i can agree maybe they should say how much they hate him so that we can hate him too. However if they have uncovered that he had just spend 10mils on hookers on the Co's credit card and therefore profit will be lower than expectations... i think they are obligated to inform us. | aleks_atanasov
23/10/2012 15:08 | aleks the statment is just silent on reasons why the ceo left. you could speculate till the cows come home but imho this is either very bad management or part of something bigger that has yet to unfold. I actually think the company may be breaching the disclosure rules by with holding information but hay, this is the stockmarket so nothing new there. | ards
23/10/2012 12:49 | ards - no i doubt it they can always RNS it intraday why should they wait... that makes no sense if the talks are over CHG can RNS it this morning. Talks arent over that's for sure. first they RNS the CEO 7am then they "prepare" the 16:35 RNS ... if that happens i will personally call them and tell them they are idiots. | aleks_atanasov
23/10/2012 12:48 | the board is doing the right thing by the way ... Carlyle is probably waiting for the elections .... just in case there is a BIG surprise and the Mittiest wins... but that will be a miracle so its best to plan for the long term of the company. why do you need explanation? | aleks_atanasov
23/10/2012 12:42 | because it is so unreasonable to leave the news flow as it is I suspect that a further announcement on collapse of deal being prepared for possible release after market closes. | ards
23/10/2012 12:35 | well i did made some nice cash buying CW. at 25p and selling it at 38p then BLVN from 100 to 135 so i cant complain from the city. if this dog doesnt pay the next one will. if your idea is lets go short every T/O target you will lose money. Or lets do some hard core research and choose the losers - you will lose again because its impossible to predict a T/O outcome. | aleks_atanasov
23/10/2012 12:30 | Its been MDE in THE CITY Off course it STINKS. | hvs
23/10/2012 12:28 | how can company sack a ceo a few days before bid expiration and expect others to be happy with no explanation. the stink is getting bigger by the day. avoid. | ards
23/10/2012 12:08 | It STINKS. | hvs
23/10/2012 10:21 | I think that CHG have taken the time to find a CEO after the last IMS and announced with a replacement to avoid uncertainty. Good news that they have a CEO that probably fits more with a sale. Otherwise thaye would have appointed an interim. | zipstuck
23/10/2012 10:18 | Chemring chief departs amid takeover talks thats exactly what i said before those P/E chaps might be waiting for the election results.... whats the point of that when Obamanable can print money and can dress up jobs reports - i have no idea. ..."Chemring's fortunes are tied in part to US defence spending, which remains uncertain ahead of the US presidential elections. Mr Bourne pointed out that Carlyle would have two days between the election and the takeover talks deadline to pounce. "If Romney wins, I suspect Carlyle might say, 'OK, we'll have that'," he said."... | aleks_atanasov
23/10/2012 10:06 | it will be interesting to see how will the big institutions position themselfs after this news tomorrow when Form 8 disclosers get RNSed. | aleks_atanasov
23/10/2012 08:43 | liam1om - yes i did read it .. the thing about profit warnings is the share doesnt always fall a lot every time. There is no way the share will open at 200p after the walk away RNS, there isnt such a risk. Will it go to 200p after a week or a month? yeah its possible who knows. | aleks_atanasov
23/10/2012 08:35 | aleks_atanasov - Realistically I think this would drop 30% on a bid withdrawal. Did you read the last profit warning?? | liam1om
23/10/2012 08:11 | liam1om - erm i really dont think this dog will be traded at 200p if/after Carlyle walks... at least not immediately after that. | aleks_atanasov
23/10/2012 08:10 | There will be no bid. It all STINKS just like THE CITY. | hvs
23/10/2012 07:54 | Good Morning all, not nice to see the share price dropping like this - though there are market wide falls this morning, price drop abviously linked to the walk out by CEO , bottom line is Carlyle are looking to buy the companys assests not any of their members of staff. This could be the opportunity to top this morning for those with enough confidence in the offer going through. All IMHO of course. | bravo1
23/10/2012 07:44 | The mentioned rule, all perfectly normal..... A listed company must notify a RIS of the following information in respect of any new director appointed to the board as soon as possible following 9.6.13 the decision to appoint the director and in any event within five business days of the decision: (1) details of all directorships held by the director in any other publicly quoted company at any time in the previous five years, indicating whether or not he is still a director; (2) any unspent convictions in relation to indictable offences; (3) details of any receiverships, compulsory liquidations, creditors voluntary liquidations, administrations, company voluntary arrangements or any composition or arrangement with its creditors generally or any class of its creditors of any company where the director was an executive director at the time of, or within the 12 months preceding, such events; (4) details of any compulsory liquidations, administrations or partnership voluntary arrangements of any partnerships where the director was a partner at the time of, or within the 12 months preceding, such events; (5) details of receiverships of any asset of such person or of a partnership of which the director was a partner at the time of, or within the 12 months preceding, such event; and (6) details of any public criticisms of the director by statutory or regulatory authorities (including designated professional bodies) and whether the director has ever been disqualified by a court from acting as a director of a company or from acting in the management or conduct of the affairs of any company. | graham2405
23/10/2012 07:43 | Very bad news, I remember a few months back when Cape got rid of their CEO, within a few months the price had dropped from 400 to 190. Never a good sign. If it wasnt for the bid situation here I think CSR would be trading in the 220-200 range, so there is a lot of downside risk. | liam1om |
