16/7/2008 20:30 | Peter Gyllenhammar is now up to 18% wonder how many more he take? | dpmcq
17/6/2008 16:21 | I see that Mr. Gyllenhammar is increasing his stake - they have done rather well on reducing the debt in this last year. The discount to TBV is clearly attracting the attentions of one investor at least. | lgwht
12/6/2008 06:27 | "Masurenguy - 11 Jun'08 - 20:11 - 79 of 80: Some progress at last. However, still far from being a compelling investment case !" That's exactly the point that I already made above ! | masurenguy
11/6/2008 20:22 | I'm not sure I can see a reason to buy them though. | arthur_lame_stocks
11/6/2008 19:11 | Some progress at last. However, still far from being a compelling investment case ! .................... Chapelthorpe FY pretax loss narrows to £388,000 from £16.98m LONDON (Thomson Financial) - Chapelthorpe Plc. said its full-year pretax losses narrowed on cost reductions and an improved trading performance, with a major uplift in operating profits and cash generation. The industrial products maker posted a pretax loss of £388,000 for the year to March 31 2008, from £16.98m in the previous year. Revenue rose to £111.24m from £108.43m in the same comparison. Its year-end net debt fell to £8.4m from £12.7m. "The group is now better placed to adapt to any market changes," said chairman Leslie Goodman. "However, with the general slowdown in the major economies of the world, the 2009 financial year looks to be a challenging one." It said conditions in the fibres sector remain as challenging as ever, with polymer prices hitting record levels last year. It believes these prices are unsustainable as new polypropylene manufacturing capacity comes on stream over the next two to three years, although how much of this new capacity will be made available for European demand remains unclear. Chapelthorpe said its U.S. business is beginning to experience a fall in activity as its economy slows but its wallcoverings industry in the UK and Western Europe has shown a strong 12 months of growth after several years of decline. | masurenguy
08/5/2008 11:21 | Hi crawford. Made a few quid on these in the past and they paid a nice divi. Dipped my toe in but looks interesting. :-) | m5

08/5/2008 07:35 | In for a small long-term punt this morning. Good luck all. | barn owl
08/5/2008 07:31 | Joined the small band of followers with 10000 @ 24.75 - certainly looks like the company's fortunes are in for a small resurgence. However given past disasters not worth more than a small punt. | 25babies
08/5/2008 07:30 | Well after being out of these for a long time, I'm now back in. Looks like a very good recovery play from these levels. PG certainly sees value! | m5
08/5/2008 07:17 | Oh well, I treated myself to a few more this morning at the open, CPL certainly seem unloved despite the remarkable turn around flagged in yesterday's (out of hours) RNS | timbo003
08/5/2008 06:25 | Also, just consider the replacement costs if you wanted to set this businiss up from scratch, I suspect it would be many, many times the current market cap of £5M. The Tobin Q ratio ( is 0.06 according to ADVFN, which implies a replacement cost of around £80M (i.e. around £4/share) I feel an "up" day coming along for CPL (at last!) | timbo003
07/5/2008 17:44 | HI GP Sounds like good news. Good job they dumped the brolly division, let's hope they can now lease out the HL site until 2012 for around £300K per annum (or more preferably), after which they can be finally be rid of it. | timbo003
07/5/2008 17:27 | Good news: "The Company's performance during the period has been robust with the benefits of cost reductions and management changes made earlier in the year offsetting the effects of a weakening US economy and high oil prices on the Fibres operations. Accordingly, the Company expects to report operating profits (before exceptional items) which are significantly ahead of market expectations." | gingerplant
03/4/2008 15:35 | Baner Is that what you were expecting in late trading? | 25babies
02/4/2008 19:51 | time to deliver for Mr Goodman et al! | baner |
