STATEN ISLAND, N.Y .-- When the New York Wheel is complete, Staten Islanders will definitely have bragging rights, as it will top the current greatest observation wheels across the globe, including the Vegas High Roller, the Singapore Flyer, the Star of Nanchang and the London Eye.

The largest observation wheel in the world is currently being constructed in Dubai. Once done -- it will reach 689 feet in height, compared to the New York Wheel's finished height of 630 feet.

It's estimated 6,000 people will visit the New York Wheel each day and the tourist attraction is scheduled to open in April 2018.

For those of you who are wondering what exactly the New York Wheel will look like, consider examining this massive hometown project by the numbers, according to Mammoet, the project's construction managers.

BY THE NUMBERS

6,000: The number of tons of steel the Wheel structure weighs
1,440 people: The total maximum capacity of people allowed on the Wheel per ride
630: The overall height of the Wheel in feet
600: The diameter of the Wheel in feet
200: The design of the Wheel is similar to an enormous bicycle wheel; however, it is over 200 times larger than the average bicycle wheel
144: The number of spoke cables in the Wheel
120: The number of feet the Wheel will be located from the shores of New York Harbor
38: The number of minutes the ride will take to experience
36: The number of climate-controlled capsules on the Wheel. Each capsule will accommodate up to 40 passengers
10: The number of inches the Wheel moves per second (and it doesn't have to stop for passengers to step on and off)
7: The number of days a week the Wheel will be open
