05/10/2020 16:51 | For the nerds: "Many predicted that there would be cheating in these elections, but it seems no one imagined it would reach the levels that the opposition is now claiming. Kyrgyz authorities might not have much time to propose a credible solution. Independent Kyrgyzstan has seen two revolutions already, and many Kyrgyz might believe there are more and better reasons to be angry now than during either of those two upheavals." | casual47
05/10/2020 15:18 | Maybe not so stable in Kyrgyzstan - shots and teargas fired at protestors near the Krygyz "White House" in capital Bishkek. Main crux of the problem seems to be that only four parties will guaranteed enter parliament. All the others (up to 12) don't appear to have made the 7% threshold which leaves a huge chunk of voters unrepresented. Protesters are claiming widespread pro-government voter fraud (buying votes) and are demanding a re-do of the election. | casual47
05/10/2020 14:16 | We are getting closer to - the last man standing. I have recently bought a lot of Landore as one of the last standing as un-noticed in its undervalue, whilst GGP soars to £900 Million !!? (no comment) If CGH becomes the last man standing- there will at some point be a near Tsunami of woken Investors buying. Happy to wait and hold. We just have to be a lot smarter than Clown Boris and His looming serfdom/dictatorship as to what the truth really is,and how their Serfs are going to be destroyed as the likes of Gates & Soros control His strings. IMHO | richgit
05/10/2020 08:45 | Kyrgyz elections were overwhelmingly won by pro-government parties. There are some protests today from opposition parties but looks like things will be pretty stable. | casual47
04/10/2020 12:43 | I meant 'unfollow' - I have changed it now. No, that isn't me. I wish it was! Much better name than me. | jc2706
04/10/2020 09:56 | Thanks, JC - you could always follow pablo2. I'm guessing "Juan Carlos Aguilar @Jc2706" isn't you on Twitter? | 2pablo
04/10/2020 08:01 | DocH has plugged them on and off for years. I believe that he took part in a placing around the penny mark some time ago. He is not a great stock picker in my experience and some of his punts are just awful. Always associated with his horribly arrogant 'know the game' phrase. I confess that he is the only person I can recall unfollowing on Twitter! Having said all of that, I think that it is likely that ECR will go on a run based on its asset location and people who have made money on the horrifically overvalued GGP looking to replicate the experience. | jc2706
03/10/2020 16:31 | Thanks, sparks. ECR : Think the tie-up with Newmont is the latest driver but Victoria needs to come out of lockdown. Plus they have some new drilling 'toys' about to 'dig in' | 2pablo
03/10/2020 15:31 | Pablo I was looking at ECR about a year ago they was treading between 0.75 to a penny up and down all the time this is the 1st time I have checked since them they have doubled in price? | sparkyboy1
03/10/2020 15:25 | Pablo I having been backing IMO since 2p up until max 7p early last week I think there is more in the tank there worth looking at I can't see Cgh moving at the moment | sparkyboy1
03/10/2020 13:58 | Blimey, a bit dramatic. I read that the Armenians are willing to talk 'ceasefire' so whether hopefully there might be a pause to this 32-year, recently escalating, conflict. ECR anyone? | 2pablo
03/10/2020 13:57 | Quite interesting also: Turkey is anti-Armenia Turkey is pro-Kyrgyzstan (because of its Turkic links) Chaarat has assets in both, one where they are in a JV with a Turkish company (Ciftay) and the other where some of their employees have been recalled to fight at the border to defend against Turkish-supported military attacks and where the company is sending food and medical supplies. Funny old world. | casual47
03/10/2020 13:10 | Good-news article for the nerds on here (just me?) on the subject of the elections in Kyrgyzstan (tomorrow is polling day) | casual47
03/10/2020 12:17 | ECR minerals any good? Seems to be flavour of the month with DocH plugging. Apparently in JV talks with Newmont and reckon they could be on the verge of a big announcement. Reasonable amount of cash on hand to not worry about any imminent placing too | 2pablo
01/10/2020 09:52 | The refinancing will be key for me. If no commercial loan can be got then I will assume that progress will be slower than I had hoped for. | casual47
01/10/2020 07:03 | JC - obviously headline bad news for investors in both countries but I can't see anything escalating so much that our gold mine or exports are affected. Therefore, I see only a buying opportunity. I'll get some more shares at some point I think but not sure of the bottom. Still we have our guarantor for support but he doesn't like falling knives no more than anyone else. | 2pablo
01/10/2020 05:17 | Possible but I suspect not. Most of these conflicts are due to some male leader feeling the need to wave his willy around. Eventually it shrivels in the cold air and they have to put it away. I don't see why this won't be the same. Worth watching because you never know when someone backs themself into a corner (or his fly gets stuck). | jc2706
30/9/2020 16:11 | Looking like the area could turn into the next geopolitcal plaything for the main powers that be, regardless of the interests of Armenia & Azerbaijan citizens. | bo doodak
30/9/2020 13:51 | Umm, that's a bit of a problem, never was the most stable of regions we're invested in | 2pablo
30/9/2020 12:14 | Mr A's average is below 15p, I believe, so I think he will be fine. My only concern re. the current fighting at the borders of the Armenian enclave within Azerbaijan is to do with the refinancing and any additional funding Chaarat need near term. While I expect the willy-waving between Azerbaijan/Turkey and Armenia to continue for some time yet I can't imagine either side would be stupid enough to really turn it up to 11 as that would drag in Russia, the wider region and maybe even NATO. The main issue for me is, will the current issues put off lenders. I think there will be a plan B if needs be (e.g. further extending the loan with the investor) but that won't be the cheapest option and I was really looking forward to Chaarat being able to get proper commercial loan options based on the Kapan performance. | casual47
30/9/2020 07:38 | Soon be .. no return | juju44
28/9/2020 07:17 | Looks like the border scuffles have intensified this weekend: "Armenia declaring martial law and general mobilization" Armenia is in a NATO-like agreement with Russia so I doubt this will get too hot and should probably be mostly confined to the border of the breakaway state The conflict is about territory within Azerbaijan where the majority Armenian ethnic population have declared themselves independent. | casual47 |
