Slicing and dicing can work but there's a huge luck factor attached, especially if you reinvest in another company with the aim of riding the wave of company B to then get back into company A before that takes off. I've had mixed results myself: often B turns out to have had a false dawn while A suddenly finds its second wind...very much like moving to a different queue...

Will be interesting to see if Mr A is prepared to pay more than 31p and also if there are other directors buying.

Gorsuch nice strategy I too have sliced and diced ( in the past). I just worry about being OUT at the wrong time and not getting back IN again.

Imagine what Chaarat could do with a $500m investment fund....

That could just be for M&A, with capex etc funding done via debt and local mini-deals such as the Ciftay JV.

If our exec team can convince investors that the strategy of consolidating FSU assets is a successful one and that the team Mr. A has put together are best place to reap the rewards from this strategy then we could see Chaarat being transformed from a miner to an investment company. Should this happen then we can expect to see the value go up rather exponentially....

Chaarat charts a different course

What links a kindergarten in Armenia, a mountain in Kyrgyzstan, and the Sea of Okhotsk, on the Pacific coast in the Russian Far East? The answer is a London-listed developer turned gold producer whose Russian chief executive sees significant opportunity in former Soviet states of central Asia and the Pacific.

Chaarat Gold believes former Soviet territories such as Kyrgyzstan in central Asia contain vast untapped mineral wealth that has been overlooked

In the hills of southern Armenia, the ancient fortress of Baghaberd looks out from a high rock over the Voghji River.

I actually sold out yesterday, my intention is to buy back into CGH in about 3 to 4 weeks time, I've done this twice now, once in March and again in May both times increasing my holding without paying out anymore money. History shows that the last two holding RNS's pushed the price up, only to fall back again 3 or 4 weeks later, so I'm happy to take the gamble that the same thing will happen again now.

I can't see all of the trades that Martin is said to have made yesterday. A couple of 100k buys are missing but I suspect that they are published as 2x50k trades. Interestingly the ones I can see are 'O' trades.

I always think that the interesting thing is that people are so willing to sell to him when it is clear that they are buying. Why not let it ride for a while to see what happens? I recall when he started seriously buying around 6-7p. People were rushing for the exists even though it was pretty obvious what was happening.

But it’s a thing of beauty to watch when Martin puts his Buys on each day. Have you worked out what he needs to Buy per day if he were to reach his 4m - think it’s about 250,000 daily

I don't think it's a bad comment to say Mr. A stands ready to defend the shareprice (see also the Polymetal shares where they have to give Chaarat first refusal to buy the shares).

It is a fact that this share is very illiquid with nearly zero volume on nearly every day, so even small trades tend to have a big impact on the shareprice.

Sorry, JC, just seems like a Shakhtar type comment that if it weren’t for Martin we’d be useless. He’s gradually taken his anonymous holding (Wilsher Fasanara) to become Chairman and the linchpin of the company, built the Board and team and we’re really moving now, the dark Dekel days are well behind us.

Just thinking in a lot of Aim companies the Board often have a fair slice but usually they took them at company start-up at next to nothing. Not the case with our Martin, I would reckon his average might be over 20p.

Looking good

I'm pretty sure he uses the purchases as a way to keep the shareprice stable. It may not be the only reason but his purchases have provided liquidity to e.g. UBS selling about 2m shares, which if he hadn't synced up with his buys would have seen the shareprice drop quite a bit.

He has been pretty good at sticking below certain price ceilings and so far he has never used up his full waiver allocation.

I also think there may be considerations in how much he ends up owning percentage wise, e.g. perhaps he wants to make sure the free float remains above a certain percentage.

Imo dyor etc

Ok. It was certainly not meant to be derogatory.

I think it's derogatory JC. Would we prefer a company with the BoD with no skin in the game? No, so it's fantastic, I won't hear a word against our Martin

2pablo,

I don't think that it is critical to say that he is propping up the price (no 'just' about it) as this is the most sensible conclusion. It serves his purposes, those of the company and other shareholders. So why not if this is how he wishes to invest his money?

Nice - as someone said yesterday I wonder how much he needs to buy to get the price to 35p? It’s interesting as he could spend day £500,000 on stock but yet make himself several millions better off on paper due to the net effect on the share price.

Good old Martin.

Think it's very critical of some folks to say he's just propping up the price, I think it's fantastic. To have the chairman, and indeed the BoD, with so much skin in the game is the greatest security we can have.

Gives me every confidence that our debt will be serviceable and the project(s) will all come to fruition
