14/9/2018 11:51 | And gold remains smashed which is killing the mining shares | juju44
14/9/2018 11:37 | I still think the Kumtor acq would be a good move for all parties. However the more I consider it the more it seems convenient for Chaarat to have an excuse to suspend the shares whilst the Tulkabash project economics improve and other acquisitions become closer to reality. | fishhead1
13/9/2018 20:55 | It's happened: Centerra broke through C$ 5.00: a new 4-year low of C$4.99 was established. Recall: CG jumped above C$ 8.00 when the Kumtor offer was leaked. | casual47
13/9/2018 16:08 | 3% of the newly enlarged issued share capital is 11.87million so would be interesting if the loan note conversion into shares will trigger any holding RNS..... "Following the closing of the first phase of the Fundraise, and the conversion of US$9,486,602 of Existing Notes into 24,067,806 Ordinary Shares" | casual47
13/9/2018 10:25 | With regards to "private resource companies".... what we have seen with Highland Gold Mining is that HGM this year bought several assets which were privately owned by Oligarchs....who also happened to be directors of HGM....handy that... | casual47
13/9/2018 09:44 | Today's news certainly hasn't done anything to dispel my original tinfoil hat conspiracy theory.... (That oligarchs are the ultimate puppeteers behind Mr. A and that ultimately this whole project fits in with Mr. Putin's desire to increase Moscow's sphere of influence over former Soviet Union countries, and defend that against e.g. the Chinese. Kyrgyzstan being a prime example of a country the subject of an intricate chess game of power between Putin and Xi Jinping). Sometimes what appears like capitalism is actually geo-politics... (This can be seen demonstrated by e.g. Russian banks lending money in instances where no western bank would touch it with a barge pole................ | casual47
13/9/2018 09:41 | (That said, I'm in Highland Gold Mining, major shareholder Abramovich, but it has been very steady and for a long time) | casual47
13/9/2018 09:40 | Not even just for the morality, but also the Oligarchs tend to bring more drama (and share price volatility) to a company than I care for. | casual47
13/9/2018 09:38 | JC - yes, same here.....though would any business get done in Kyrgyzstan without this kind of influence? If this goes big (as I expect it to do, e.g. beyond £1 per share) then I will definitely consider whether I want to have so many Oligarch tainted eggs in one basket. | casual47
13/9/2018 09:29 | I confess that I am also becoming uncomfortable with some of these relationships. Rising to the top in Russia requires particular principles and I would suggest morality isn't high on the list. | jc2706
13/9/2018 09:23 | Yep. Whether directly, or indirectly, with its various directors (including of course our Chairman) Chaarat now has solid roots that are deeply embedded within the ultra-rich Russian elite. While I'm not so comfortable with the Russian oligarch aspect, it does mean that we are probably on to a serious winner here. Hold for gold, as they say... | casual47
13/9/2018 09:14 | Interesting. There are clearly two benefits to bringing Robert Edwards in if he is a representative for one or more oligarchs. The other being that he is "adviser to several private natural resource companies". It would not be beyond the realms of possibility that at least one of these is a target. Whatever the reasons, this is becoming a seriously heavyweight player in the area. | jc2706
13/9/2018 08:18 | It could be Mr. Edwards was appointed to benefit from his experience but a more likely reason would be that he's representing someone who is putting money in? Now, who would that be? | casual47
13/9/2018 08:00 | Robert Edwards -- a long-standing associate of Abramovich, nominated by him to the NorNickel board. Artem Volynets -- a long-standing associate of Deripaska, nominated by him to the NorNickel board. Sometimes you wait ages for one Oligarch and then..... | casual47
13/9/2018 07:51 | The oligarchs are closing in: "Roman Abramovich‘s Millhouse is represented by Sergei Bratukhin, president of CIS Investment Advisers, and independent director Robert Edwards. Edwards, who is head of Highcross Resources Ltd, is the only new face on the board. He replaces Enos Banda as independent candidate." From: "Norilsk Nickel shareholders elect new board, approve dividends" (June 2013) | casual47
12/9/2018 21:06 | Some poor feker has to be sad | juju44
12/9/2018 20:43 | Juju.....is that....are you.....optimistic?! I think I need a sit down! ;) | casual47
12/9/2018 20:37 | The whole Centerra thing seems to be wilting and I feel its no better than a vague maybe but as the drill picture grows and the new purchase delivers we should still see a bigger better Chaarat when it re- emerges | juju44
12/9/2018 15:53 | I suspect that Centerra would not respond or if they did it would be along the lines of 'off you go, laddie'. I am expecting more drill results as the season progresses. I see no reason to stop now and, in principle, drill results should be released as they come in. | jc2706
12/9/2018 14:03 | You're cheeky | 2pablo
12/9/2018 10:53 | If Chaarat has nothing to lose then it might be cheeky and issue a statement saying that it notes the plunging shareprice of Centerra and, as a consequence, they are adjusting their offer to $600 million to better reflect current market value. Oh, and they're giving Centerra BOD four weeks to respond or the offer will be withdrawn irrevocably. That might shake up things a little and set off a few alarm bells...... | casual47
12/9/2018 10:37 | Should we expect news this month beyond the H1 results and possibly the fundraise closing? I would expect they'd want the fundraise done before interim results but that's not something they can control. I presume we won't hear more about the acquisition until the fundraise has closed? From Dusty's sequence of events from the clip we won't get resource related news before October? Would there be an RNS for both sequence 1. (October) and 2.(late October, early November)? (See list of sequences below) I suppose we won't get any further drill results now until they issue the final 2018 resource statement in q1? From the clip, Dusty's Sequence of Events: 0. New resource update (done) 1. Put reserve model on resource update (October) 2. Put new mine plan and financial model on that (late October, perhaps early November) 3. Resource update based on completed drill data (Q1 2019) 4. Repeat reserve and financial model calculations | casual47
12/9/2018 07:17 | Certainly had a bad 12 months - see it was CAD$9.22 exactly 12 months ago Pick up your chips and leave the Krygyz ! | 2pablo
11/9/2018 18:12 | Centerra has another big drop today, reaching a new year low: 5.11 At this rate will dive into the 4s before long. | casual47 |
