29/5/2018 20:18 | Last year Phil Caldwell said...."Ceres Power is making good progress against our aim of securing our fifth global engineering company as a customer in a Joint Development Agreement by the end of 2017, with the intent to be in two launch programmes with OEM partners by the end of 2018....." Signing the SIXTH strategic partnership with Weichai Power a few weeks ago PC has now over delivered. We must also be very close to that first commercial launch programme. After successful trials of five SOFC powered domestic boilers last year, that first commercialisation might be of a residential CHP. However the collaboration with the Korean KD Navien three years ago fizzled out when their first sales campaign with CHP from new premises in Sheffield never matured and Navien's name has not been mentioned since. Will it come from BG, who was managing the ene.field trials? Or from the anonymous European engineers said to be the fifth strategic collaborators mentioned since. It's fun trying to guess what will emerge first. A static power source from Cummins supported by the US Government or a range extender from Nissan- who are so driven and enterprising. 2018/2019 looks good for CWR I am adding sharply to the portfolio in anticipation. I hope I am timing it right At my age It is not sensible to invest where one can expect another ten year wait. It's been long haul at Ceres, but that's always the case with radical change. | scrutable

20/5/2018 13:26 | You should not be under the impression that working in China is fraught with danger. Here is one just one example of a flourishing joint venture you may not be aware of hxxp://www.airbus.co Pilkington Uk was one of the first when it set up a JV production plant 25+ years ago which was a success. Now merged with the Japanese I believe. There are thousands of others with few bad experiences given the right choice of partners like I believe Weichai is. No, if done well CWR will greatly benefit from this connection. Also, it won't be long before the HK investing community becomes aware of Ceres and then I think you will learn what speculation is all about!! | smokey 1o3
20/5/2018 05:25 | The agreement includes a potential initial £17.0m equity investment by Weichai in Ceres Power and a potential further equity investment of £23.2m, which is triggered on signing further commercial agreements before 30 November 2018, both subject to approval by provincial PRC (People's Republic of China) governmental authorities and Ceres Power shareholder approval. So TBD... | jaadro
19/5/2018 23:54 | I wonder if existing major shareholders are fully supportive of this deal. I assume they have been consulted? | muffinhead
18/5/2018 11:16 | Equity agreements, which include -- A subscription agreement to invest GBP17.0m for a 10% equity holding in Ceres Power, to be priced at 15.08p/share, an 18% premium to current market value. -- An additional GBP23.2m subscription by way of warrant at an exercise price of 16.45p/share, a 29% premium on the current market value, will allow Weichai to hold, together with the 10% acquired under the subscription agreement, a 20% equity holding in Ceres Power. This will be automatically exercised on the signing of the further commercial agreements expected later in 2018, subject to certain conditions. The Chinese are buying 20% share of Ceres Power.... they will be the largest shareholder They want a range extender for vehicles Nissan has already proved the technology They want to manufacture in Shandong province....just accross the waters from South Korea and Japan | muffinhead
17/5/2018 18:02 | Not sure what to make of this move. A huge Chinese company with masses of money and muscle and a small Western company with some possibly promising new technology. My experience of working with a Chinese company (electrical switch gear) is that they voraciously suck up all available Western technology because they don't have the technical infrastructure to invent. It's what happens next that matters. Will they learn everything there is to know about the product and then lose interest in the owner? Chinese companies have a habit of totally disregarding stuff like intellectual property protection. Of course, we also have to see yet whether it actually is a successful new technology or just a promising new approach. How many commercial applications are proving their worth? Judging by the share price chart, the mkt is unimpressed so far. Interesting and on my watch list but not yet convinced enough to buy. | petersinthemarket

16/5/2018 17:08 | Tje following is one reason I would have expected the share price to do better today than it did. A factor that the share price cratered earlier this year was when people read in the Interims what had long been evident namely that an equity raise would be needed. Today we have had assurance but of course no guarantee that £17m will be available at a premium to this evening's share price £17 m should keep us going for 18 months+..even before the second financing. I also note that they plan to have next year demonstration buses. | cerrito

16/5/2018 13:37 | Smokey 1o3, you don’t need to work in China (or Russia) to know that words like ‘ethics’ and ‘truth’ are not in the lexicon. I fear CWR will be as lambs to the slaughter if they don’t take the utmost care. Surely there are huge markets locally completely unexploited, without giving the IP away - because that’s what this deal amounts to imo. | dozey3
16/5/2018 13:36 | I think CWR today became an important strategic asset in the green energy revolution. Weichai strategy Weichai Power although listed in Hong Kong, it is a subsidiary of Weichai, a Chinese state owned enterprise Cummins in America also has political clout and gets government grants for research and development Then you have Nissan, Honda, etc as partners. And CWR itself getting government grants. I was concerned about CWR having enough cash to get through the next 12 months, but after Weichai I think CWR will be fine. My concern now is that someone will make a bid quite soon and take this company private, which would be a great shame. | muffinhead
16/5/2018 12:01 | The share price reaction to this outstanding Ceres RNS shows once again that few investors are sufficiently science trained to value disruptive technologcal breakouts from current practice The government too is always a few years behind IMO CWR'S slow patient persistent low cost, Steel Cell development from the well known but not very useful SOFC, is in a position analagous to Intel with its 'Intel Inside' brand. At 90 I still hope to see the Steel Cell universally, in most power generators, static and motive, during the next decade. The board are to be congratulated, already, on their quiet, low key, brilliant strategy, and budget responsibility over the last ten years, to reach this point now so close to take off. | scrutable
16/5/2018 11:55 | Should put pressure on "partners" to get their act together The Chinese are doers. They have the cash and a massive market. | muffinhead
16/5/2018 10:55 | Dozey could'nt disagree with you more. This is really good news. I worked in China for 10+ years and found their business ethics as good as anyone else's. One Company I worked with was a JV between the British, Chinese and Japanese and all got along well. Also no problem with Cummins and USA as they have multifarious investments in China. I have had the feeling the share price has been purposely kept low in recent months to accommodate something like this. Good to see the UK can develop good business relationships outside of the EU!!. | smokey 1o3
16/5/2018 08:56 | Market response is to be expected; getting into bed with the Chinese is a prequel to just one thing, and it could easily end in tears. Great pity the West cannot push on with our own technology without ‘sharing’ | dozey3 |
