04/10/2017 20:33 | They don't seem to be looking for buyers but partners, I'm only guessing but I imagine a lot of that stuff comes with the partnership agreement. After all they aren't marketing to end user or PIs. They are dealing with manufacturers who will incorporate their product within their own, and institutions who will sign an NDA. I've held here since 2009 and I'm happy with progress to date. Good luck with AFC - I'm not invested there - didn't choose them; my fuel cell portfolio consist(ed) of ITM , CWR, CFC and CMR. Two of the 4 went under but ITM and CWR look to have a realistic prospect of making an impact. Nel would probably be a better bet than AFC in my opinion but I'm not there either. | re1dy
04/10/2017 19:43 | The commercially sensitive questions are exactly what buyers will ask so why not shareholders? At least AFC have stated targets in all of these points and are relatively public with them. Maybe we should be invested there instead? | tonsil
04/10/2017 19:01 | All there is that I've seen is on the Ceres website. The initial field trials in 2010/11 were unsuccessful. At that time they commissioned an independent verification of the technology after some surprise results in which the cells degraded much more quickly than expected at 3% per 1000 hours. They reduced the degradation rate to 1% per thousand hours and then, back in 2012 (at least 2 versions of the cell past) the degradation rate was reported to have reduced further to less than 0.5% per 1000 hours of operation. hxxp://www.cerespowe hxxp://www.cerespowe Efficiency has improved from approx 50% electrical efficiency and over 90% thermal efficiency to 55% electrical efficiency about 12 months ago and the companies stated aim is to achieve 60% electrical efficiency, at which point it matches the efficiency of a combined cycle gas turbine generator which is, I believe, the current benchmark for a prime mover for electricity generation. How often they need to be replaced - who knows. I guess it depends on the duty cycle, the quality of the substrate and the number of heat cycles. They announced the field trial was successful on 25/9/17 - its still on the news page but no details. It may be worth contacting investor relations but some of this information is likely commercially sensitive. Paul | re1dy
04/10/2017 16:19 | Todays report talks of reduction in degradation which is good news. What are the details? How quickly do the cells degrade? How often do they need to be replaced? After 1 year of use what is the efficiency compared to new? What was the result of the 1 year field trial? Anyone know? thanx | sharpshare
04/10/2017 13:54 | Ben There has been competition brewing since CHP was introduced ten years ago to increase the thermal efficiency of domestic boilers. The unnamed licensors clearly feel the need to maximise their lead at the time of commercial launch. It could be British Gas or any other boiler maker. KD Navien of S Korea, with whom CWR actually once had a licensing agreement, did bring out a CHP boiler based on an external combustion engine, as did many others at the time, and do I believe sell it in the UK. They were the first engineers in Asia to bring out a condensing boiler and quickly took the lead there. They are large enough to get excited about. K D Navien's web site today now mentions the magic words 'fuel cell' as in " we will accelerate in developing green energy equipment such as the Stirling Engine m-CHP fuel cell, and solar thermal systems to improve our quality of life" Today's quite long RNS states towards the end: " The technology team has enabled rapid progress with our first 'go-to-market' customer by completing a successful technology transfer. The customer has designed and built its first prototype multi-kW commercial CHP in less than 9 months, after a successful transfer of our 1kW SteelGen design" To me this implies launch within 12 months to avoid wasting the lead. Perhaps we shall learn a bit more at the always informative AGM at the Horsham factory around mid-November | scrutable
04/10/2017 12:56 | i wonderwhy ceres cantname the existing OEM to develop CHP that was signed in May17 is it BG who is owned by Centrica who have North America and RepofIreland presence that fits with the Global OEM statement | ben chod
04/10/2017 11:47 | This is crucial “... Assessing options to increase UK manufacturing capacity to meet near term customer demand and continuing to explore manufacturing partner for large scale production”. I liked seeing the “UK” mentioned, but we really need to be ready to turn out units in thousands; then today’s share price will seem cheap as chips. | dozey3

04/10/2017 08:54 | All the above is true Scrutable, a well run company with a great product worth consideration... But I still don't really understand the valuation in comparison to peers who are winning big contracts and valued at less. The way the share price has ground upwards last 6 months is great for shareholders but puts me off - all due to that potential perhaps, would need nearer to £90mil to tempt me in unless contracts come in quickly (which I appreciate wouldmean I'll pay a lot more). | gspanner
04/10/2017 07:43 | The FY report radiates confirmation of confidence in the management control of multiple technical advances in parallel with global leaders Cummings, Nissan and Honda. It s a pity that the company can still not disclose the names of the fourth collaborator nor the fifth one on the point of signing (which one can expect by the year end) Note particularly the words " significant progress in the last year has enabled us to rapidly establish ourselves in markets where higher power output is required, expanding our ability to address the enormous opportunities that the global energy transition is enabling. Indeed, the majority of our customer demand is now for larger power systems........ Not many energy start ups have the following at CWR: financial security, will power, and control. eg look at the mess at IEH."The Company strengthened its balance sheet by raising £20m from new and existing institutional investors in October 2016, which enables us to secure key commercialisation agreements by the end of 2018. The growing appetite for investment in the energy sector and the Company's strong existing financial backing gives us confidence that we can access future growth capital as we continue to deliver against our strategy". This is now even more visibly a big company in the making. | scrutable

02/10/2017 17:35 | I used to be invested in afc but lost faith about 18 months ago when they were talking kilowatts and others were talking megawatts. They still did not have a commercial offering then. Maybe now they do have one. However their platform seems to be evolving. It now is targeting less than 10p per kw amongst a list of targets. I know cwr and AFC are targeting different markets but it is not clear to me whether these two can compete or are completely different. Any subject matter experts able to compare and contrast these two companies and their very different approaches to using H2 in a FC. ??? | tonsil

29/9/2017 13:04 | I first took an interest in a US Company doing external, off-Grid "battery" power supplies about 5 years ago. Their primary Market back then was always Data Centres, as well as green-field Business Sites. It (He infact, the Inventor) claimed their IP would lead the World within about 3 years. I don't think he/they got there at all and I do think it's becoming much more about the potential applications of the IP in multiple scenarios now, which CWR seems to have positioned itself for more & more this past 3 years. | pottermagic2310 |
