03/9/2014 20:52 | Spike. I can't find quoted prices but the revenue and numbers sold seems to indicate about £15k... As you say, the fuel cell life is quoted as 5 years and it's difficult to see how a purchaser can be sure to recoup the high purchase price in the 5 years before the cell degrades. If the price was considerably lower then it may make more sense...in homes where space is available. | larry335
03/9/2014 15:03 | Does investing in fuel cells stack up? Investors Chronicle, CWR, ITM, PPS, AFC, CFU, ACTA - - Today, 3:01 PM | loading
03/9/2014 14:39 | Current price - can't find by internet searches. All info' is around 2012 vintage when it was 20K +5% VAT At the time there was a 5 year guarantee (I assume that included the fuel cells due to the current warranty costs incurred by CFU). Unless they have improved reliability of the system inc' stacks will those systems last another - say - three years? After 5 years owners will have to replace the stacks at their cost. Best wishes - Mike | spike_1
27/8/2014 09:13 | No matter how I look at this, the practicalities and costs just don't fit. The thing I find most puzzling is how they managed to sell any of these. Is it £15k+ each? And does that even include the installation cost? | larry335
19/8/2014 10:49 | Thanks Mike. | cool_hand
19/8/2014 10:22 | Group revenue: £3.4m cost of units sold during the year was £2.9m warranty claims and replacement parts ££1m Total; £3.9m Conclusion: they would have lost less money by not selling any. Obviously to simplistic - just. And let's not forget that the warranty claims etc would have mostly been on the previous years sales of 147 units. Presumably this years sales of 210 units will provide a larger warranty/spare parts issue next year. Again this is very simplistic but it tells you all you need to know to not invest. Best wishes - Mike | spike_1
19/8/2014 08:33 | Yet another placing can't be more than a few weeks away. This parrot is dead! Why anyone would fund this further is a mystery. Death spiral financing or nothing. | waterloo01
19/8/2014 08:27 | Enough cash to get through to the new year? Then what? Even break even looks a long way off. Having projects but no resources to progress them sounds like a hurdle too far. | fludde

08/7/2014 16:04 | Video Interview Bob Kennett, chief executive of Ceramic Fuel Cells (LON:CFU), says the key to the company's growth is sales. Kennett says the so-called 'project-based schemes' -- where it sells its fuel cells to organisations such as local authorities -- will help it boost sales and achieve its growth targets over the next couple of years. He also talks about the interest from potential partners that could help the company expand into new geographies. | proactivest
