Mastercard’s Chairman will take over from Sir Roger Carr when he steps down as Chairman of British Gas owner Centrica.

Richard (Rick) Haythornthwaite will become Non-Executive Chairman from 1 January 2014. The former BP man – he spent 17 years at the British oil giant – is also Chairman of arts organisation the Southbank Centre.

Sir Roger Carr who will step down on New Year’s Eve said: “I’m delighted that Rick has accepted the Board’s invitation to succeed me as Chairman of Centrica. He brings invaluable industry experience from his time at BP, a deep knowledge of consumer relations from MasterCard and a proven record of government and regulatory body engagement from Network Rail.”

Mr Haythornthwaite added he feels “privileged221; to take on the role: “Centrica [is] a company with such a fine heritage and that is so relevant not only to its customers, employees and shareholders but also to the broader societies that it serves.”

to return to the topic, i sold out at 80 after the july results and took a hit. am now back in at 69. to me it's more of a punt on there not being a corbyn govt and whoever does get in looking more benignly towards large retail energy providers. i quite like the pivot away from production. i once had a small fortune invested in these and lost a shed load. but i'm glad i sold when i did (november 2017). i've been in and out of them in a much smaller way since then and have generally made a profit. time will tell but they represent about 6% of my portfolio and i'm comfortable with that.

what is the point? even me writing this is off topic and contributes to the nonsensical miasma. no doubt the person calling themselves 'discodave44' is sitting back in his boxer shorts, smiling smugly to himself that he's got a rise out of another user. that's called 'living' these days, it's a proxy for genuine engagement with the real world. it's not that i oppose bears/shorts per se, but the infantilist approach is completely at odds with my own view of the world. advfn need to sort this out - their boards have become a playground for the deranged and unsound of mind.

Can't see that CNA had any T4 capacity market rev, they did have one year (T1 delivery 2020) via nuclear but they are offloading that. Probably why not much movement in share price Anyway, when / if UK pulls out of EU on 31st what happens then?.........EC will delay decision IMO, then it may be down to national legislation which won't happen in a rush!.
