09/6/2019 12:45 | I've been with HL for 35 years and have always found them pretty reliable - even pre-internet days.
Like many, I'm doing a bit of head scratching over the Woodford debacle. | skinny
09/6/2019 11:13 | Not quite sure what agenda del is trying to push. FWIW I’ve read Jarvis aren’t great. I use both Halifax (low cost) and HL. Not so sure about the latter now, I’ve put in a sell for my £23k investment in their multimanager fund (14% Woodford) will see what happens.
Think I paid about 400 in fees for HL and less than 100 for the Halifax and both hold similar amounts. | dr biotech
09/6/2019 10:29 | Chaps, Delboy is spamming.Joined two days ago, 164 posts all the same about trading platforms.hifc - interesting about AJB though, am thinking of investing. | discodave4
09/6/2019 09:28 | hifc231..I used to have a full service broker but found I was pushed investments that were difficult to trade and usually failed. So decided to go my own way and like you moved to HL , I find them to be professional and timely with enquiries.
Having said that not impressed with their close ties toWoodford , their own director recommending Woodford shares but unloading his own investment in HL . Not encouraging as always DYOR | whatsup32
09/6/2019 08:39 | G'day Delboy, Just from personnel experience you get the service you pay for. Not sure about your pick of companies........... For years i was with Self trade (formally Square trade, Commtrade) they always came through with fast quotes and for large orders (i normally trade £20-100k values) and found selling or buying such amounts easy and rarely failed. They got took over by some mob called Equiniti, so i decided to try elsewhere and tried AJ Bell Youinvest. They seemed very cheap with charges/fees etc. I kept the two accounts but found that AJ bell was hard to get the website to execute a sale over £10K. I once did an experiment and tried to sell two amounts of £20k in the same share as a test. Both sites open at the same time and pushed the button at the same time. Self trade no problem went through, but AJ bell would only work with three trades of £9K, £7k & £4k (three trades total and three sets of charges that came in higher then the one from Selftrade)....... My point is they seemed cheap but failed with my trades and cost me more in the long term (had to do several trades instead of one). I dumped AJ bell and Self Trade and went with Hargreaves Landsdown, Yes not the cheapest but have never had a trade fail and have sold lumps as high as £140k with no bother...... so just my experience but might be worth doing some home work on share firums to find other experiences of cheaper brokers....... | hifc231

07/6/2019 16:16 | I used to work there for about 15yrs and imo they are run as completely separate company's, there was rumours within the workforce ages ago of them franchising out the home-care and boiler install business as they do struggle to make any headway into the current market. They are too expensive compared to private gas engineers and you'll probably get a sub contractor do the work 30% of the time anyway due to the lack of direct engineers. All just my opinion of course but you'll only have to ask anyone that has had a service or installation from them recently. Hope this helps answer your q | mcrudden

07/6/2019 13:13 | Good point diku, I just can’t see Centrica ever being renationalised, it’s interests are too diverse, the USA/CANADA market, EV, HIVE, OIL, too many moving parts, that John Macdonald is a dinosaur, he boasts about being a Marxist, some one who died in 1883, none of what Labour say or do makes any sense to me. | mercer95
